    The reception. The honeymoon. Six months later…

    Chapter Twenty-Five

     

    “Ladies and a few gentlemen,” Carmen smiled. “Welcome the newlyweds: Mrs. Bette and Tina Kennard-Porter!” They smiled as they held their hands up showing off their wedding bands. The crowd cheered as the newlyweds had walked into the door. They walked over to the table and hugged and covered with kisses by their friends. They took a seat at their table, and Tina cuddled closer to Bette. Bette smiled and kissed her hand. Their glasses were sitting in front of them filled with champagne.

    “Huh—do you two think you need to be drinking?” Alice looked at them.

    Bette smiled. “Yes because it’s our special day, and we’re going to drink.”

    “Yeah,” Tina chimed in and took a drink.

    “Will the lovely newlyweds come onto the floor so we can have their first dance?” Bette got up and held her hand out. Tina smiled up at her wife and grabbed her hand. They walked onto the floor, and Carmen began to play music.

    “Babe look—,” Tina smiled as she looked up at the stage. Bette smiled as Pink approached the microphone.

    I never thought I’d find someone
    but you came along and made me see
    that you were the only one for me
    Girl, I love you constantly

                    Everyone made a circle around the couple as they danced their first dance as a married couple. Shane nudged Helena and smiled.

    “You came through for them. You’re a great friend.”

    Helena smiled. “Thanks.”

    “I won’t have to kill Helena. She actually pulled through.” Tina smiled at Bette. Bette chuckled softly.

    “You look so beautiful.” Tina blushed.

    I dreamed of someone like you before
    But I never thought I’d get the chance
    To romance someone as sweet as you
    I hope you feel the same as I do

    “Do you feel the same about me?”

    Tina beamed. “I’ve never stopped.” Bette leaned forward and kissed Tina passionately. Tina raked her fingers through Bette’s hair and pulled her body closer to Bette’s. A couple of minutes later, the song was over, and everyone cheered and clapped.

    “Congratulations Bette and Tina and to the many years to come.” Pink smiled at the couple and they returned the smile. “All right if we can get the maid of honor and the groom’s woman to come up front to do their toast.” Shane and Alice walked up to the stage, and Pink backed up. Alice was the first to grab the microphone. She pushed her hair out of her face.
