Angels and Mortals: Chapter 18-Like Father, Like Son

    Alice: how ya feeling?

Alex groaned. Alice melted. She loved being the one person Alex would let know how badly she was hurt. She walked over and took a seat on the stool next to Alex.

    Alice: That good eh?

She leaned over and kissed the exposed shoulder in front of her. All she could smell was Alex’s soap.

Alice: At least you smell nice.

She kept kissing down Alex’s arm. Alex smiled a bit and moved her arm off her eyes.

    Alex: Where’s Brodie?

Alice: I handed him off to Dani so I could come see you.

    Alex smiled.

    Alice: How bad is it?

Alex gave her a worried look and moved one of the heat packs. The medium bruises Alice had seen before now stretched to what looked like Alex’s back and wrapped around and up her ribs.

Alex: I wasn’t exactly wearing football padding for that tackle. At least a couple bruised ribs. Her digging her knees into me when she was on top didn’t help either.

Alice pouted and turned her head to get a look at her face. The gash had been stitched up and a bruise was forming around it.

Alex: That’s the least of me worries.

Alice: Babe, if this was me, I’d be bawling my eyes out.

    Alex shrugged.

Alex: At least she didn’t break anything.

Alice: But I might break her.

Alex smiled and let out a small giggle, ignoring the pain.

Alice kissed her son on the forehead.

    Alice: I love you.

Brodie: I love you more mummy!

Alice: Now you get some sleep. We’ve got a big day tomorrow.

    Brodie: Basketball!

Alice giggled and gave him one last kiss.

    Alice: Good night.

Alex was watching this form the doorway and kissed Alice on the cheek as she walked out.

Alice: Meet me in the bedroom?

Alex just smiled and nodded, slowly walking over to Brodie’s bed. She gently kneeled next to it.

Alex: Hey, hows my little man doing?

She gently stroked his spiky brown hair back.

    1. Thanks for the quick update! The growing Alice/Alex family seems to be doing well. BAM is a cutie. The whole bruising thing was weird — how quickly they faded. Great chapter. Thanks, IAmAlexM!!
