Angelica & The Artist – Chapter 39
Angie was very happy at the joint effort Mr. & Mrs. MacKenzie were making. She wanted Lyndsay’s first show to be a success and if her Mom would do the show, it would add a lot of initial credibility to it, especially since Lyndsay was still an unknown in the art world. She was fairly certain that once people saw the paintings they would discover for themselves just how talented she was, but having Bette as the curator would give her instant credibility.
Lyndsay however was not convinced. “I don’t know. Maybe doing a show at this time is a bad idea after all.” With that she stood and walked out of the room, leaving the other three sitting there wondering why she suddenly changed her mind.
Angie started to get up from the sofa, but Barb stopped her and said she would go check on her daughter.
Lyndsay had made her way up stairs to her room and was lying down on her bed facing away from the door when Barb walked in.
“Lynds, honey what’s wrong?”
“Nothing Mom, I just don’t think doing a show is the right thing to do at this time. I don’t know what I was thinking…..I’m not ready.”
Barb knew by the tone of her daughter’s voice that there was more to this, so she walked over and sat on the bed. “Lynds….”
Turning over to look at her Mom, there was a look of defeat on the young artist’s face.
“I guess I just thought that this was something that Angie and I could do together. I don’t know anything about the art world or how it works, and I’m not sure that I even have anything that is worthy of showing in a gallery. Ang seems to think that I do, so I thought about it for a long time before I decided that maybe with her help that I could do it.”
“Well, I have been surrounded by art most of my adult life and yes you are my daughter, but sweetie, your paintings are beautiful and I think they are as good as anything that I have seen in a long time. The two you gave us the last time you were home have garnered a lot of attention, and that was without anyone knowing it was you who painted them. When anyone asked your Dad, he always said it was a new artist he had come across in New York.”
Lyndsay laughed. “He tells people that?”
“Yes he does. Lyndsay we are both so proud of everything you do, but with your paintings, you have surprised even us with your abilities. I think you should consider Bette Porter as curator and do the show.”
Lyndsay listened quietly to her Mom as she spoke and in the end she agreed to think about it.
Meanwhile downstairs…….
David walked over to the bar in his study and poured himself and Angie another drink. Handing her glass back to her, he once again took his seat. They both sat quietly before David asked his young guest….
“Do you think Bette would consider what I am suggesting?”

it just didn’t end up there? yeah? ok PPVS
Only if it done in Angie gallery and bette will be the right one to do it and Lyns will have the very best and she can still be with Angie. thanks
Lyndsay can have the best of both worlds with Bette presenting her work at Angie’s gallery. Barb should tell Angie why Lyndsay is disappointed. PPS :o).
I think Bette would love to do this show since she was very taken with the first painting she saw and got in trouble for with everyone.
Tazzie, as you know I am playing catch up! The story continues to unfold at just the right pace. Finger’s crossed that Bette will take this show! Next?
What! You can’t leave it there. It will have to be in Angie’s gallery. Good excuse for Bette and Tina to visit. How will Barb handle seeing Tina again? Great chapter as always Taz. PPS. K x
Of course Bette will do this..she would do anything for Angie and she believes Lyndsay has talent. Bette is the perfect choice…she has the name that will pull people out and this will help Angie’s gallery and reputation and Lyndsay is really good, so the show will be lucrative enough to give Lyndsay some new found career freedom. Hmmmmm…maybe this freedom will have a positive effect on Angie and Lyndsay’s relationship. Great update Taz.
good work as always Taz, Lyndsay should tell Angie why she is upset so Angie can explain the ins and outs to her, they will still be spending time together. Thank you, Md
