    Angelica & The Artist – Chapter 33

“I know Mom, but I’m nervous about being there, you know, in their house.”

“Ang, I remember David well, and he has always been a liberal thinker. I am sure that if they have invited you, it is because they want to get to know you as Lyndsay’s girlfriend and outside of the art world. I’m sure it will be just fine.”

Angelica hoped her Mom was right. They talked for awhile longer and Angelica started to feel a little better about her impending trip. She promised her Mom that she would see her and Mama B soon, and would try to have Lyndsay come with her the next time she came to LA.

After hanging up the phone she lay in bed thinking. This weekend was very important for a variety of reasons. On one hand it was important to Lyndsay that her parents see first hand how happy she was when she was with Angelica. For Lyndsay’s parents it was about ensuring that their daughter had not made a rash decision. They knew she had a level head, but they wanted to see for themselves. They had met Angelica many times, but never as their daughter’s girlfriend so they too were slightly nervous about the upcoming weekend.

Picking up a book from her night stand, Angie thought that if she read for awhile it might help relax her. About an hour later she was finally able to fall asleep.

The next morning she made her way to the airport for her flight to Winston-Salem where she would meet Lyndsay before they headed to Raleigh for the weekend. It was an uneventful trip down and after sharing a fairly quiet day together at Lyndsay’s apartment they headed out for dinner to meet up with Lyndsay’s friend Carolyn.

On the way to the restaurant Angelica was very quiet, and this didn’t go un-noticed by Lyndsay.

“OK, you have hardly said two words since we left the apartment. Baby, what’s wrong?”

    “Nothing.”

“Nothing? OK, then why are you so quiet?”

    “Really Lynds, it’s nothing.”

    “Is this about meeting Carolyn?”

Angie didn’t answer. She just looked out the window.

Lyndsay pulled into the restaurant parking lot and found a spot to park. Angie was reaching over to open the door when she felt Lyndsay’s hand grab her. “Wait Ang. We need to talk before we go in there.”

Angie looked over at Lyndsay. Why did they need to talk she wondered.

    “What?”

    “You tell me.”

“There’s nothing to tell. Come on Lynds let’s just go in…… your friend will be waiting.”

Lyndsay was quickly losing her patience. “What are you worried about?”

Angie stopped and turned back to Lyndsay. She knew she needed to explain, but how would she find the words.

As she carefully watched her, Lyndsay realized that this wasn’t just about meeting Carolyn. This was more about meeting her parents the following day. “Ang, this isn’t about meeting Car tonight is it?”

“No.” Was the simple answer provided.

“Why didn’t you say something sooner?”

“I couldn’t. I know how important this weekend is to you.”

Lyndsay leaned back in her seat. Yes it was true, this was important to her, but maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe they were not ready for this. If they couldn’t even get out of the car to have dinner with her best friend, she wondered how would they survive a weekend with her parents?

    1. Taz, again a great chapter, I can’t wait for Lyns to get Angie home to her parents, then Angie will be able to calm down, they sound like nice people. Thank you, Md

    2. * tip toe-ing in * : – D Hi Tazzie!!! Hee Hee, well it certainly looks like we both know how to keep our end of a deal doesn’t it? LOL!!!!! Ya know, out of pure instinct I was setting up to post, then I thought “Oh wait Chicki, you’re being far too easy, check if Spazzie posted.” Yep, you did and so therefore I continued. Gosh you are too funny. Now, this was a brilliant chapter, because it showed all of Angie’s nerves. No matter how confident you are in yourself or your relationships, when it comes to meeting your partner’s parents, of course there will be butterflies, especially if you are their daughter’s FIRST female interest! EEEK! Let’s hope that Car ends up going easy and providing reassurance, ultimately raising Angie’s comfort level. THANKS!!!!!!!! xoxo

    3. Well lookey here a chapter befoe I leave in 8 hours time for L5. I see you kept your promise to that certain someone and beat them to it. See you after L5. KG

    4. Fabulous update Taz…not long enough, but really good. I think they can both step up to the challenge…they are not young kids and they will never find parents as liberal as Lyndsays, so they need to go for it. Awaiting your next update Taz!

    5. Come on Ange, have some confidence in yourself, and trust in Lyndsay. You’ll be just fine. I would have called Tina too. We leave it up to you Taz to get Ange through this, and I know you will. I’m sure Lyndsay will be able to convince her that everything will be fine. She needs to remember that Lyndsay has already taken the biggest leap. She told her best friends and her parents, buck up Ange and step up to the plate.

    6. Hey, Tazzie! *waving with enthusiasm* We are glad that a certain someone *looking up at Chicki* convinced you to update this charming story of yours. We will say the deal was a “win-win” situation. Yaaayyy! As for the story, we totally understood Angie’s uncertainty about meeting Linds parents as her g/f. However, she needs not to worry, if she has Linds by her side. After all, both were hit by the “love bug” and that is simply unexplainable. We are enjoying the prelude to meeting Linds’ folks. Thanks for this enchanting update. Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks.- Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties) P.S. Stay away from the snow! We don’t want you to catch the flu again. Take care. xoxoxo

    7. Akkkk… Just because the last couple of CHAPTERS were HOT… does not mean that they did not move the story forward… on the contrary they ‘MOVE’ the story oh so much… bow chicki bow wow… love and hugs dudette, JC

    8. Hello Dudette… never stop being who you are cause who you are is just simply amazing… you handle words with so much precision power… you mold them and craft them like a master sitting in front of their block of clay and cutting away until there is nothing but the masterpiece of the soul… and this story as with you are a masterpiece… I love the raw emotions… the honest and the delight that comes from each word you share with us, with me… keep on rocking it out my friend, love and hugs from the ‘dude’ JC (Latin Nephew to those Salsa Angels)
