    Angelica & The Artist – Chapter 33

    Chapter 33

Tina was just finishing up the dishes when the phone rang. Placing the dish towel down on the counter she walked over to pick up the receiver. Glancing at the caller ID she smiled when she saw the name…..

“Hi sweetie, what are you doing up so late.”

    “Hi Mom. I couldn’t sleep.”

Tina walked over to the couch and sat down. She knew her daughter, and she could tell by the tone of her voice and the hour of her call that something was up.

    “What’s wrong?”

“Why does anything have to be wrong for me to call?”

“Ang…….because I know you and you only call this late when something is wrong…..so come on spill it. What’s wrong?”

Angelica sat silently, her Mom really did know her best. Of course that’s why she was calling her, because Tina was always a sounding board, always the one she turned to for personal issues. Sure Mama B was always there willing to offer suggestions as well, but she relied on her for different things…..when it was about her personal life, it was Tina she had always turned to. She in turn would fill Bette in later.

“Mom…..what if they don’t like me?”

When she heard the apprehension in her daughter’s voice, Tina knew exactly what this was about. Angelica was nervous about meeting Lyndsay’s parents on their turf so to speak. She knew that her daughter wanted this to go well so she tried her best to offer some soothing words. “Everything will be fine. You already know them both so it’s not like you are meeting them for the very first time.”

“This is different. I’m dating their daughter, the one they didn’t know was interested in women until she met me. What if they blame me?” Angelica asked in a voice laden with panic.

Tina sat shaking her head. It’s not like she had not expected this call, she would have been more surprised if it had not happened. “Ang, you can not accept responsibility for Lyndsay deciding that she would like to date a woman instead of a man. That was her choice to make, not yours.”

“But Mom what if they think it’s my fault?”

“Angelica Kennard–Porter, you listen to me, how can you sit there and ask that? You and Lyndsay are both adults, and it is up to you to decide who you love and who you each want to be with.”

    1. Taz, again a great chapter, I can’t wait for Lyns to get Angie home to her parents, then Angie will be able to calm down, they sound like nice people. Thank you, Md

    2. * tip toe-ing in * : – D Hi Tazzie!!! Hee Hee, well it certainly looks like we both know how to keep our end of a deal doesn’t it? LOL!!!!! Ya know, out of pure instinct I was setting up to post, then I thought “Oh wait Chicki, you’re being far too easy, check if Spazzie posted.” Yep, you did and so therefore I continued. Gosh you are too funny. Now, this was a brilliant chapter, because it showed all of Angie’s nerves. No matter how confident you are in yourself or your relationships, when it comes to meeting your partner’s parents, of course there will be butterflies, especially if you are their daughter’s FIRST female interest! EEEK! Let’s hope that Car ends up going easy and providing reassurance, ultimately raising Angie’s comfort level. THANKS!!!!!!!! xoxo

    3. Well lookey here a chapter befoe I leave in 8 hours time for L5. I see you kept your promise to that certain someone and beat them to it. See you after L5. KG

    4. Fabulous update Taz…not long enough, but really good. I think they can both step up to the challenge…they are not young kids and they will never find parents as liberal as Lyndsays, so they need to go for it. Awaiting your next update Taz!

    5. Come on Ange, have some confidence in yourself, and trust in Lyndsay. You’ll be just fine. I would have called Tina too. We leave it up to you Taz to get Ange through this, and I know you will. I’m sure Lyndsay will be able to convince her that everything will be fine. She needs to remember that Lyndsay has already taken the biggest leap. She told her best friends and her parents, buck up Ange and step up to the plate.

    6. Hey, Tazzie! *waving with enthusiasm* We are glad that a certain someone *looking up at Chicki* convinced you to update this charming story of yours. We will say the deal was a “win-win” situation. Yaaayyy! As for the story, we totally understood Angie’s uncertainty about meeting Linds parents as her g/f. However, she needs not to worry, if she has Linds by her side. After all, both were hit by the “love bug” and that is simply unexplainable. We are enjoying the prelude to meeting Linds’ folks. Thanks for this enchanting update. Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks.- Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties) P.S. Stay away from the snow! We don’t want you to catch the flu again. Take care. xoxoxo

    7. Akkkk… Just because the last couple of CHAPTERS were HOT… does not mean that they did not move the story forward… on the contrary they ‘MOVE’ the story oh so much… bow chicki bow wow… love and hugs dudette, JC

    8. Hello Dudette… never stop being who you are cause who you are is just simply amazing… you handle words with so much precision power… you mold them and craft them like a master sitting in front of their block of clay and cutting away until there is nothing but the masterpiece of the soul… and this story as with you are a masterpiece… I love the raw emotions… the honest and the delight that comes from each word you share with us, with me… keep on rocking it out my friend, love and hugs from the ‘dude’ JC (Latin Nephew to those Salsa Angels)
