Angelica & The Artist 2 – Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Angie wasn’t sure how to take that response.
“What do you mean surprised? Did they give you hard time? Because if they did I’ll talk to them…..I’ll make then understand” she quickly asked.
Lyndsay laughed. “Slow down, they didn’t give me a hard time. Quite the opposite actually. They were very supportive.”
“Really? Well that’s good right, I mean I think we get along well and I’d hate to see this change things with them.”
“Oh don’t you worry, they still like you. In fact they had all kinds of opinions that they were more than willing to share.” Lyndsay said with a slight bit of sarcasm in her voice.
“Okay……you don’t sound too thrilled about it.”
“Well……….”
North Carolina a few days earlier…….
David had been listening to his daughter describe the project she was working on for Helena Peabody. He knew she was stalling. Something was going on and it was time to find out what.
“Lyndsay, you said there was something that you wanted to tell us. So come on now, no more delays, what is it? Is everything OK?”
Finally after delaying the discussion as long as she could, and taking a deep breath Lyndsay said “Mom, Daddy……I came to tell you about a decision I have made……..”
“OK sweetheart this sounds serious. Is everything okay?” asked David.
“Yes Daddy, everything is fine.”
“So this must be pretty big if you had to bring in reinforcements.” He replied smiling and nodding over at Carolyn.
“Daddy, you know that Car and I have been there with each other for just about every big thing that has happened in our lives.”
“So this must be a pretty big thing then.”
Carolyn just sat back and watched this interaction between father and daughter. Lyndsay idolized her Dad, and her greatest fear had always been that she would disappoint him. They had talked about that very scenario on the drive up earlier that day. What if her parents didn’t approve of her decision? How would she react?
“Mr. Adams, if you would like I can take Charley for a walk or something. Give you some time alone.”
He looked over at Carolyn. “Don’t be silly Carolyn, you are always welcome in our home. You have always been like a second daughter to us. I’m sorry, I was just teasing.”
