ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE Chapter 51
Bette looked up at the sky – it looked like the BBQ would be blessed with good weather despite the earlier rain. Confident that this was going to be a successful occasion she lit the BBQ and watched it flicker into life. She added extra charcoal and idly watched the fire smouldering for fire minutes. It was a rare few minutes of peace for her – Tina was out with Zak, Hannah and Josh at the supermarket and Madison, Becky and Dan were in the house with Lara being taught how to make veggie burgers for the two vegetarians who would be at the BBQ – namely Dana and Peggy. Helena had always said that the very definition of irony was her mother’s obsession with beefcake when she was a vegetarian and had been for over 30 years.
Bette looked up at the house- the place that felt more and more like a home. It had been a gamble – one that she had not wanted to take but her friends had talked her into it and now it looked like their stay would not be a long one. Neither house was suitable for their extended family. The fact that they were both detached properties made them impossible to be joined together. Bette was beginning to look on the internet for big houses with a minimum of 8 bedrooms. But at the moment it was just idle curiosity to find out what was available in the area – their plans were not for marriage at the moment but Bette couldn’t see her wanting to wait more than a year to make Tina her wife. Bette knew that she had found her soul mate – this blonde with the gentle Southern accent and easy going manner had taken her heart from the cold storage where it had been since Emily’s death. She was coming around to the view that her heart had never felt as good as it did when she looked at Tina.

Another great one AllyE. This chapter with the entire family and friends was just wonderful. And Peggy…passing out enoughlove and joy for everyone. he is really quite a lady, crazy one too. Happy for Bette & Tina showing their love for one another, no matter what is going on. Glad they could steal away for a little bit, they needed and deserved it. Bette needs to put locks on her bedroom door.PPS
Yeehaw! Ride her, cowgirl! And when they get back to the BBQ all the adults will know exactly what they’ve been up to, even if they take the time to shower. I’m thinking even Becky might catch on, and if she catches on, I bet she and Dan will have a chat. Being a boy he might not believe, but it’ll creep up on him, sort of like NC-17s creep up on you. Now Ally, why don’t you send Peggy over to my house? I can be charming and could stand some gifts (although that new cell phone I was telling you about has a camera, so I hope she’d give me something else.)
