    Alice has something to tell Dana…

    "Ok Alice, what’s on the agenda for today’s show?"

    Putting on a fake smile for her Producer, Alice sat up straight, and pretended to read from her note pad.

    "Well, I thought that I would talk about the Iraq war, and what role women have played in that. You know….now that we have had women die in combat, I wanted to get into the whole equality issues that women in the military are still struggling with."

    "Excellent Alice! I think that will make for a very interesting show." She started to walk out of the room, but turned back, giving Alice a pensive look. "Dana was never in the military, was she?"

    "No," Alice smiled. "But, she looked hotter than hot in a Captain’s uniform!!"

    Laughing, the Producer walked out of the room and into the control booth, confident that for once they would have a show that wasn’t filled with Dana this, or Dana that.

    Alice on the other hand, smiled to herself. She was feeling excited…yet heartbroken all over again. She knew though that she had to do this…for herself…for Lara…and maybe, just maybe for Dana.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Playing her trademark introduction, Alice leaned into the microphone.
    "Good afternoon, this is Alice Pieszecki, and you are listening to The Chart on KCRW. Today’s topic is a very personal one for me. Yes, I know, all my topics are very personal to me, but today….well, if you have listened to any of my shows, you would know that Dana Fairbanks was…well, she was my best friend…my lover…she was my partner in crime…she was the woman who broke my heart. And, when she died…."
    Alice’s voice grew soft. "Honestly….when she died I thought she took my heart with her. Because, the moment she died, I felt complete and total emptiness. I tried to look inside, but all I saw was a deep dark hole."
    Alice could just faintly hear a loud, "Oh no…" coming from the control booth, but ignored it, and didn’t look up.
    (In a neighborhood not far from the studio, Tina was just coming into the house she had shared with Bette, to drop off Angelica for the day. Bette had the radio on and was staring at it, listening to the confessions of one of her dearest friends. As Tina came into the room, she too heard Alice’s voice, and the cold greeting she had already prepared for Bette, died in her throat. She silently placed Angelica in her crib, and then joined Bette next to the radio.)
    1. Sea, you said you dont write much about Alice, but I want you to know that I read this with the same goofy smile you probably had on your face. You did a terrific job with this one….thanks!!!! (clapping my azz off)
    2. DAYUM girl! Well I WAS going to write something for the challenge but I think you just buried the competition alive. LMAO On writing Alice, you did her justice. I also loved the B&T tie-in of course. =D
    3. While this is an “Alice” story, there’s something familiar about it. OH YES! I know now… the tone of this story reminds me of one of my favorites on this site…”If it is meant to be…” or maybe then again “When you get it, do you still want it?” You warm my heart… or should I say “fill my pool”? Thanks Sea. :)
    4. That was great. You are such an excellent writer that I don’t think you could write a bad story even if you tried. I just love everything you write.
    5. A wonderful and emotional goodbye to Dana. Alice finally lets go of her pain. Excellent writing, Sea, as are all your posts. I can just picture Alice saying those words her show. Thanks for sharing this with us.
    6. omg i loved it and i think its one of the best stories i have read in months and also had a happy ending and on tbc…. lol thanx for making me smile today i needed it
    7. Hey Sea! That was wonderful. I must admit I chuckled when I saw the post wasn’t purely Alice. Just couldn’t stand not to have Bandt in there could you? I loved this! Let’s hope this is how season 4 opens up.
    8. This was really beautiful, and, strangely enough, helped me put the Dana to rest… TV emotions back on track. Love the Defending Your Life reference (love that movie!), as well as Katharine Hepburn (not that she really needed a plug), and I always adore your treatment of our girls Bette and Tina – and how you always make sure they end up together in a way that is right and believable. You wrote Alice to well, complete with babbling and tangents, and I could picture her saying all those things. Thanks for sharing your wonderful story, and I look forward to your next post!
    9. Very sweet, Sea. I notice you smoothly included a B & T reunion as well, you sly gal. Oh and “Defending your Life” – love that movie.
    10. Absolutely fantastic story.I shed a few tears while reading it. Just beautiful!Are you planning on writing other chapters? I do hope so!
