Tina gazed momentarily at Bette. ‘You, Bette Porter! Jesus! I can’t focus on art with you in such close proximity to me!’
Tina broke eye contact to scan the area and saw a beautiful oil painting. “I love the use of light and color in this landscape.”
Bette looked to the painting featuring nature. “That’s one of our up and coming artists being promoted, Isabella Anders.”
“It reminds me of home…” Tina said softly.
Bette noticed a hint of sadness in Tina’s hazel eyes. “Where’s that?”
Tina turned away from the painting to focus on Bette. “North Carolina.”
Bette remembered hearing a slight accent their first encounter and smiled at the memory. “Beautiful landscape.”
Tina nodded in agreement. “I loved driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway to collect my thoughts.”
Bette was familiar with the area. “America’s most scenic roadway?”
Tina was surprised by Bette’s response. “You know it?”
Bette smiled, “I actually was there once. I agree that the area is exhilarating and diverse.”
Tina agreed. “Mountains, valleys, waterfalls and bursts of colors from the flowers….it’s breathtaking.”
Bette noticed how Tina’s eyes lit up when talking about her hometown. Bette disagrees with the blonde in her head. ‘No, Tina…breathtaking would be you.’
“Is California home for you?” Tina questioned.
“I moved around frequently. I had opportunities I couldn’t pass up with education or career but would consider this home,” Bette smiled warmly.
“It must be nice,” Tina replied, with the tiniest hint of sadness.
Bette detected the slight melancholy in Tina. “Maybe one day, West Hollywood will feel like home.”
“Maybe.” Tina answered with hope. “So tell me about your favorite pieces here…”
Bette continued to walk around the gallery with Tina pointing out artwork and giving some interesting points about the artist or piece.
Bette stopped and gestured with her hand at a piece of art behind her. “This would be one of my current favorites.”
Tina looked over Bette’s shoulder and saw a sculpture of naked woman proudly displaying her voluptuous body and laughed, “Yeah, figures.”
Bette is puzzled and turned around to see what Tina is looking at. “Not THAT one, Tina!” Bette specifically directed her to an oil painting featuring a woman at the beach.

Definitely a fun chapter. Loved their volley back and forth – not too sweet, not too sappy, none too cheesy either. ;) Absolutely perfect.
I love that they’ve gotten past some of the confusion. I also love how they throw each other so off guard. They might both need an inhaler sooner or later. :) Thanks for posting!
i just can’t see my self going to a bartender and orderimg a “Piece of ass”… maybe when i’m in vegas later on this year i might ask a cocktail waitress… back to the story… love the glances and their thoughts… too cute… lunch oe dinner should be soon…pps
