Chapter 9
The next day 9:00 am Porter home…..
Tina drove up the drive to the Porter house, got out of the car and knocked on the door.
“Christina, good morning” Melvin said “Come in”
“Good morning Mr. Porter, how are you?”
“Real good, how are your parents?”
“They’re doing good, thank you for asking”
“Congratulations on graduating, valedictorian no less” Melvin said “So, Kit tells me your attending USC this fall”
“Yes sir the film program” Tina said, proud of her self
Bette heard voices and figured Tina was here she grabbed her bag and headed down stairs she paused at the foot of the stairs for a second and listened to her father.
“The Film Program?” Melvin said with scoff and hint of distain in his voice
“Christina you’re seriously not thinking of wasting your time and parents money on something so frivolous as film classes”
“A person with your intelligence should go to school and learn something valuable, not spend your time and energy on what could only be described as a very expensive hobby” Melvin was cut off as Bette stepped into the room and spoke in a harsh tone.
“Daddy that’s enough!” Melvin’s eyes shot up in surprise Bette had never raised her voice to him.
Tina was equally taken aback in all the years and all the times she had been in this house she had never heard anyone of the Porter girls speak to Melvin in the tone Bette just used.
“Daddy I remember you once said that to me when I told you I wanted to major in Art History and I think I’ve done pretty well for myself, besides Tina, has a full scholarship, you should see some of her short films they are amazing she’s very talented” Bette said with pride
“It was simply an opinion Elizabeth; she’s obviously a very intelligent young lady she could have gone to any Ivy League school of her choice”
“Yes daddy she could have but it just so happens that USC has the best film study program in the country, there’s a very long waiting list, it was only through Tina’s talent and good grades she was able to get in”

Hey iluvmuzic, The gals are inching them way nearer together at every turn. Their failure to accept and acknowledge fully theior attraction to one another is so adorable. I loved when Bette got all uppity with Melvin over his dismissal of Tina’s choice of persuing Film Studies degree. Soo cute.Even after the museum, these girls circle around their real feelings. Please get them awake up and admit their emotional connection. I can’t wait. Just brilliant writing. I am loving it all. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
