A Love of My Own #9

    Chapter 9

At the same time on the other side of town, Bette was thinking that the day couldn’t be better. Tina had definitely taken a giant step that day and things were progressing very nicely for them she thought, Bette was sure where all of the emotions for Tina had come from, but there was no doubt of their validity. Every moment in her presence, she could feel herself getting closer to her. Her happiness was so great that she found herself singing along to the songs on the radio.

“At last, my love has come along.

    My lonely days are over

And life is like a song.

Oh, yeah. At last, the skies above are blue,

My heart was wrapped up in clover,

The night I looked at you”

Bette laughed at herself, as she could not remember a time when she had so giddy and excited. She realized that they were going fast, but she questioned where going slow had ever gotten her. Single, she realized. “Maybe going fast is good.” She reasoned to herself as she pulled her car into the parking lot of Caf du Monde.

Bette was meeting Alice for lunch, so she thought to mix a little business with a lot of pleasure. She needed to solidify some details for Marie’s showing and besides Alice always loved going there (Even though she always burned her tongue on the spicy food).

As she entered the building she noticed that there were a good number of people there, but not too crowded. It was easy to spot Alice who was sitting with Remy, Anna, and Marie, at the booth in the restaurant.

Bette: “Hey everyone.” Bette said as she approached the table and joined the others in the booth.

Remy: “Bette, My love, you are late as usual.”

Bette: “Sorry, but I have good excuses. I had some things to pick for the apple of your eye there.”

    Marie: “Yeah, just blame me.”

Alice, who sitting next to Bette, wondered about the overt happiness radiating from her. As she looked at her she noticed some red blotches along her neck and immediately pulled her closer for an inspection.
