    Nervousness and THE First “date?”

    Oh, youll make it a home, now that you will be spending more time there, youll figure out how you want it. Tina says and smiles.

    Yeah, I hope so, cause when it come to creative things Im not a guru. Bette laughs.

    Me neither, I just bought some magazines and I saw what I liked and I applied it here. Tina says.

    Oh, maybe I should do that. Bette says.

    Tina motion for Bette to sit down and then she sit down.

    Lets dig in, I hope it tastes okay. Tina smiles and looks at Bette who also smiles.

    Im sure it does, it smells real good. Bette replies.

    Thank you. Tina says and let Bette take the first dig. There is an awkward silence until Tina breaks it.

    So, when did you start playing golf? She asks taking a bite.

    Well, my mom has always played, she was a pro too, so it was kind of a duty of mine to follow in her footsteps. But I loved it. I got my first set of clubs when I was 4, at least that was what she told me later. Bette says laughing.

    4 years, wow, thats early. I was playing with dolls at that age. No one could trust me with a club of any sort. Tina laughs. Bette joins the laughter.

    They enjoy the rest of the dinner, making small talk. After dinner they retreat to the living room and the sofa. They bring the wine.

    Another awkward silence fills the room. Bette is the one to break it.

    So Tina, what kind of music do you listen to? Bette asks.

    I like a lot, but not heavy metal or trance. Classical could work, but I have to be in the mood for it. Tina laughs. Ballads are good, pop, light rock. I could listen to about anything except the ones I mentioned. Tina says. How about you? Tina asks.

    Classical works for me too, I listen to that whenever I want to relax, it takes me into dreamland. Bette smiles. Everything except the ones you didnt like. Bette replies.
    So what about movies, any favorites? Tina asks.

    Did like Forrest Gump a lot, and pretty woman is a classic. Bette says smiling. You? Bette asks.

    Well I like Meryl Streep, so any movie with her in it would be a winner and also Jessica Lange. Out of Africa is a favorite. Tina says.

    Yeah, I have seen that movie, it was great. Bette replies. She looks down on her hands, they are a bit shakey.
    Tina could I ask you a question? Bette asks a little nervously.

    Yeah, sure, go ahead. Tina replies with a light smile.

    Bette hesitates a little.

    Why did you invite me for dinner? Bette blurts out, looking at Tina.

    Tina was shocked, but she tried to hide that fact. She didnt know how to answer that. Should she lie or should she tell her the truth? Tina thinks to herself.

    I dont know, I just wanted to I guess, why did you say yes? Tina asks back. Bette knew this question probably would come.

    I like you, and wanted to get to know you better. Bette lets out and looks at Tina, who lets out a breath she didnt know she was holding.

    I like you too. Your question just took me by surprise. Tina says.

    Thats okay. Bette replies.

     

    They start the small talk again. The previous moment of awkwardness is forgotten. They talk for hours about all and nothing. Its getting late, Bette looks down on her watch.

    Wow, its getting late, I should be getting up. Bette says in a bit disappointing voice.

    Yeah. Tina says not really wanting the night to end. They gets up, Tina walks Bette to the door. They look at each other, neither saying anything.

    I havent done this before. Bette says and looks down to the floor.

    Havent done what? Tina asks.

    Been on a date with a woman before Cause this was a date right? Bette asks.

    Tina smiles and quickly looks down and then up to meet Bettes eyes.

    You could call it that, yes. Tina says smiling. Bette smiles nervously.

    So I dont know what should happen next. Bette asks still looking into Tinas eyes for some kind of hints.

    Its not that different from a date with a man. Tina says still smiling.
    So If I kissed you, that would not be that far off? Bette asks quietly.

    No. Tina says softly.

    23. OK OK I’m so slow at catching up but if I haven’t told you I love this story. I find it interesting that Bette is an athlete of sorts. It will be interesting to see if she pushes her recovery to try to golf again dispite what the docts have said. Thanks
