Bette reach out her hand and softly touches Dana’s chin.

“Who did this to you?” She whispers. Bette looks up and at Sharon. “Why didn’t you call me sooner? She’s my best friend.” Bette asks silently.

“We forgot Bette. Can you blame us? We haven’t even told all our family yet. We just wanted to give her a few days. To see if her condition got any better. I’m sorry Bette.” Sharon says.

“It’s okay Look I have to go home to the twins. But I’ll be back later today, if that’s okay?” Bette asks.

“Sure. I’ll let the nurses station to add your name to the visitation list.” Sharon says.

“Could you put my wife on there too?” Bette asks.

“Sure.” Sharon says and smiles. Bette give her a hug and then leaves the room.

Tina rushes over to her when she sees Bette coming out of the room. She takes her hand.

“How is she?” Tina asks.

“Not good. They don’t know if she’ll wake up.” Bette says and wipes away tears with her free hand. Tina pulls her into a hug.

They stand there holding each other a few minutes.

“Come on baby, let’s go home to our boys.” Tina says and squeeze Bette’s hand a little.

At home:

Jessie and Julia are playing with Will and Matt while the twins look on from their bouncers. Everyone’s laughing. The front door opens and Bette walks through with the bag.

“Hey, let me help.” Julia says and stands up and takes the bag from Bette.
“Thanks.” Bette says and smiles.

William comes running over to Bette wanting a hug.

“Aunt Bette.” He says smiling as he stops in front of her.

“Hey, there little man.” Bette says and gives him a hug.

Matt comes running over to Tina and stops in front of her reaching up his hands.

Tina lifts him up and kisses his cheek.

“Hey, there kiddo, you’ve been a good boy?” She asks smiling.

“Yes.” He says as he also nods.

“Good boy.” Tina says and gives him another kiss. She sets him back down again.

Tina walks over to the twins and sits down next to them, she lifts up Daniel. She hugs and kisses him tightly. “I’ve missed you baby.” She says. Bette walks over too and takes a seat next to Tina, she lifts up Noah. And kisses and hugs him too.

“So, how’s Dana?” Jessie asks.

Bette looks up at her, then at Will and Matt.

“Hey, guys, why don’t you go and play in the nursery.” Bette says.

“I wanna stay here with you.” Will says.

“It’s only for a few minutes okay. We have some grownup things to talk about.” Bette says.

“Okay.” Will says and takes Matt’s hand, they walk into the nursery.

Bette looks over at Tina and then up at Jessie again.

“She might not wake up again.” Bette starts. “She can’t breathe on her own, she’s paralyzed from the neck down. She also have a head injury, but they don’t know the seriousness of it, because of the swelling.” Bette says, she starts to cry again.

Tina lay Daniel back in the bouncer and takes Noah from Bette and put him down again too. She stands up and pulls Bette up with her.

“Could you watch the boys for a little while?” Tina asks Jessie.

“Yeah.” Jessie replies.

Tina takes Bette into their bedroom. Bette’s still crying.

“Babe, why don’t you lay down for a little while.” Tina says as she set Bette down on the bed. She helps her off with her shirt and then jeans. And then Tina helps her under the covers. Bette’s on her side facing the night stand. Tina turns to leave.

“Stay.” Bette says.

“Okay.” Tina replies. She takes a seat on the floor beside Bette. She moves her hand up to Bette’s face and softly strokes it. After a few minutes the crying stops and she falls asleep. Tina gets up, bends down and places a soft kiss on her forehead.

“I love you.” She whispers and then she leaves the room and walks out to Jessie, Julia and the kids.
