Your secret is safe with me – (Chapter: Theres more than meets the eye)
The sky is slowly turning a nasty shade of blue as I noticed the expensive mustang pull up to the curb in front of me. It seems the weather mans predictions for thunderstorms is coming true, which induces the anxiety I am already feeling in the pit of my stomach. God I hate storms, but even more I hate the awkwardness of meeting someone new. Somehow Aiden had convinced me that it was time for me to meet his family, I had managed to weasel my way out of it on numerous occasions but not this time. As I stand up off my front porch I brush off my faded blue jeans and drag my feet all the way to the passenger side door. Of course Aiden been always the gentlemen rushed over to open my door for me.
He was dress causal with a simple white band t-shirt and jeans, which made me feel I lot more confident in my attire. As we arrive to his house, Aiden pushed back a strand of my long blonde hair tucking it neatly behind my ear.
“Don’t be so nerves look at your hands your shaking babe” Aiden’s failed attempt to get me to relax was only heightening my nerves. “Spence come on they are really not that bad I know for a fact that they are going to love you” He stated as he place a light kiss at the corner of my mouth. “Besides you already know Ash so that’s one down only two more to go”. “Aiden I’ve only ever seen your sister like twice and both times it was from a crossed the lunch room”. “So what does that matter”, he replies with a chuckle. God I swear sometimes he is the blond in this relationship. “Whatever let’s just get this over with hopefully as painless as possible”. Aiden gives me a cheeky smile and gets out to open my door; we interlock fingers as we make our way inside. I don’t think I have ever seen a house this size before as we breeze pass the living room toward what I assume is the dining room. As we enter who I assume are Aiden’s mother and father stand to greet us. My eyes do not stay with them for long though due to the fact that I quickly noticed the odd one out. Ashley was still seating in her chair looking down at the table. But it wasn’t the fact that she was seating that drew my attention to her; it was when she slyly glanced in my direction before returning her concentration onto the table. In that moment I think my whole brain stopped just to focus on how beautiful this goddess was before me. From the few times I had spotted her in the lunch room I knew she was pretty. Heck the fact the she was Aiden’s twin guarantee that she was good looking. But this was something I was not prepared for, the fact that my whole body was aching for her to glance, my way again made me realize just how breath taking Ashley was. With just a black t shirt and painted on skirt she could make any person hot under the collar.
“Hello you must be Spencer we have heard so much about you, I’m Christine Aiden’s mother”. It felt like as soon as I had found the perfect angle to stare at those tone tan legs my attention was being adverted. As I approach I noticed that she seem very friendly, but her face held a tight smile as if forced.”Nice to meet you Mrs. Davies “
I approached Mr. Davies next, Aiden was right he could be kind of intimidating up close. “Hello sir it’s nice to meet you also”. I noticed that he had a firm hand shake as he gave me a slight nod in welcome. “I can see now where Aiden gets his good looks from”, I joked politely but I noticed that his attention was no longer on me but on Ashley who still seemed to be mesmerize by the freaking table. I don’t know what secret it is hiding from her but I want to be let in on it too.
“Ashley now you know how impolite it is to not stand when being greeted” Mr. Davies hisses out low but not quiet enough for me to miss it. His words are followed by him gripping Ashley’s forearm rather tightly and yanking her to her feet. Ashley stagers slightly and wince before standing up straight. “Now apologize for being rude”
“Yes sir”, Ashley slowly shifts in my direction and makes brief eye contact with me. Her eyes were such a pure chocolate brown I felt myself drowning in them, but as soon as I started to sink her eyes shifted to the floor and I was able to come back up for air. “I am sorry that was rude of me Spencer”
The sound of my name in that husky voice was making me even more aware of my quickly damping underwear from the sight of her. “Its ok Ash I didn’t think of you as rude any way”, I replied. I noticed her demeanor perk up at the shortening of her name; I hope she is ok with it.
“Spencer you don’t have to be nice” Mr. Davies laughs “she is the slow one of the two” he gestured between the twins “She will be corrected on her inappropriate behavior later, now please take a seat the foods getting cold”. It was pretty clear that both Aiden and Ashley tensed up at this information. I don’t know what this dinner has in store for me but for now all I know is that I am getting some strange vibes from the Davies family.
