    Realizing that family is all you truly need..

     

    “No.”  She fought the urge to back down and replied with a sudden burst of courage.  He raised his hand and fiercely brought it down across her face.  “Don’t make this hard on yourself Kyla.”  He growled, his teeth were clenched as he pushed her shoulders harder into the wall.

     

    Kyla swallowed dryly, it took everything in her being to keep the tears from flowing right then and there.  Her cheek was red and painful to the touch.  She was about to reply when the sound of car doors being shut followed by footsteps shook them from their one way conversation.

     

    “Back the fuck off man.”  Aiden jumped in next to Kyla who hid behind the boy.  Eric eyed him cautiously when finally laughing.  “This is the prick you’re dating now?”  He laughed mockingly when someone tapped his shoulder from behind.

     

    “Nope, that’d be me.”  Kasey ripped her fist back and caught him square in the nose.  Blood gushed from the open wound above the bridge.  Eric’s eyes immediately watered as he cupped the injury with his hands.  A look of complete horror was visible when he noticed that the ‘prick’ who had in fact just struck him was a girl.

     

    Aiden cleared his throat with exaggeration causing Eric to spin around expecting some sort of attack from the boy who stood behind him.  Instead Kasey dipped and swept his legs from under him in one swift motion.  Eric tumbled backward onto his back as the crimson liquid continued to streak down his cheek.

     

    “That never gets old.”  Kasey and Aiden laughed remembering the times when they used play fight with other kids.  They’d always end up double teaming them with tactics such as these.  Bumping their fist together they smiled and watched the body lay helplessly on the floor.  Her good mood was immediately replaced with angst and sadness when she locked eyes with a terrified and yet remorseful Kyla.

     

    Catching his breath, Eric quickly stood and was about to retaliate when Aiden grabbed him by the waist, swung him around toward the stairs, and shoved him forward with a swift kick in the ass.  “Touch her again and you’ll regret it.”  He shouted after him, watching the waste of space jump into his car and speed off without ever looking back or saying a word.

    7. I’m glad that Kasey kicked Eric’s ass, but I’m still concerned with the fact that Kyla slept with Eric. Man, this is so going to screw up Kasey and Kyla’s relationship. You’re a wonderful writer and you always leave the reader wanting more. Great update…PMS
