You Only Live Once – Why Not Enjoy It – (Chapter: 12 – Stetsons, Strawberries, and Whipped Cream)

“Paula what?!”  The boy yelled into the receiver.

“Chill, she almost did!  I got rid of her though.  Hey what time are they supposed to be back at anyway?”  Kasey was now starting to calm down; her cheeks were flushed with embarrassment.

“Thank God…and I think Ashley mentioned something about being back around one or two.”  Aiden sighed in relief.

“This sucks.  Anyway, I’ll catch you later.”  She replied.

“Sure, take it easy!”  They hung up as Kasey resumed her position next to the bed.

The door quietly creaked open yet again and the brunette flew beneath the covers in a flash.  ‘Damn Paula!  Give it up already!’  She had become fed up of Mama Carlin.  Her close-mindedness was irritating.

“Kasey?”  A voice whispered into the room causing the brunette to freeze instantaneously.

“Kaaaassey.”  The voice echoed throughout the room yet again.  This time she recognized it.  She threw the comforter over her head and glanced out at the figure.

“Hey, what’s up?”  She asked as the form entered the room, locked the door, and flicked the light switch on.

“Thought I’d come hang for a bit, seeing as how you’re stuck here.  Plus I noticed my mom was just in here, I’m glad she didn’t spot you.”  Glen smiled holding a Monopoly box in his hands.  “Clay’s downstairs ‘keeping watch’.”  He laughed as he took a seat on the floor quickly joined by Kasey.

“What the hell is that smell?”  He asked setting up the game.  Kasey simply chuckled and brushed his question off.  “You don’t want to know.”  She replied.

After having eaten their meal and a desert consisting of naturally romantic strawberries and whipped cream, Spencer and Ashley were ready to call it a night.  It was already midnight.

They say that people often find themselves acting oddly when the moon is in its full state.  Tonight, everything seemed satisfyingly perfect.  There was nothing odd about their evening; it was well-deserved and thoughtfully planned out.  The two remained spread out on the blanket exchanging stories from their past.

This first date was memorable.  Spencer had hoped that it would be something like this but never imagined it would be so special.  She had learned so much about Ashley tonight; not only about her past but about her personality, her demeanor, and her general outlook on life.

    1. Endearing and funny story. Kasey is quite a character and the love between Spencer and Ashley is adorable. I love it… By the way, you write it so well…PMS
