“What people say about me, what people think about me, all that stuff”

Ashley could hear the sadness weighing down her voice and the pain etched on her face, she almost felt the need to reach across the table place her hand on top of the blondes. To let her know that she was there for her when she was ready to talk, because she knew that she wasn’t ready at this point in time. She couldn’t differentiate her feelings in that moment, whether her caring was genuine or because it was another task she was ordered to do, just a feeling that would pass just as sudden as it had came. But it didn’t pass, it haunted the brunette for the remainder of their session, lingering in her mind, reminding her of it’s unwelcomed presence every time Spencer spoke or looked at her. The brunette’s hands stayed folded in her lap until the bell rang to signal their time was up.

They hadn’t discussed anything much deeper than what they already had talked about, just minuscule topics that don’t require much thought. Luckily for Ashley, seeing as she couldn’t listen to a word coming from the blonde’s mouth, too intrigued to say anything she just nodded and commented from time to time.

“Hey”

The brunette took her hand off the handle of the door and turned around to a calling she was assuming was directed towards her.

At the feel of Spencer’s arms around her body Ashley tensed up, unsure of what to do, or how to reciprocate the gesture. The blonde gave a light friendly squeeze to her before backing up.

“Thanks” she replied smiling a bit before sliding passed Ashley’s awestruck body and out the door

The brunette was left alone to in the doorway, not even knowing which direction the blue eyed girl went in. Her trancelike state overtook her for the rest of the day, making clumsy writing mistakes in class, walking into kids in the hallway, forgetting which books she needed. She was barely functioning correctly while her mind took habitat in a different place, surely there had to be a different reason that could explain why she was acting so strangely. There was absolutely no way that a girl with blue streaks in her hair could be the cause of her sudden paralysis. All she could do was backtrack on what had gone on in their session, something went astray along the way to make her act like this. Was it because she shared a personal secret with the blonde that nobody knew, or was it because the blonde cared to know about Ashley’s recent past. It surely could have been Spencer’s natural ability and delicate features that soothed her, that under all her rough and tough defense mechanisms was just someone as broken as her.
