You Belong With Me – (Chapter: 2 – First Days in LA)
I guess Aiden was really trying to be open toward me because he knew I didn’t know anyone else, so he thought the first person you meet in a new city should try a be nice and show some hospitality, how thoughtful. Anyways, back to the past….
Kyla just stopped talking and started getting all excited and bouncy. It was really hard to concentrate with that happening, so I put my hands on her shoulders to stop her jumping. “OMG!!! I can’t believe you and AIDEN DENNISON are already friends! He totally likes you! I’m soooo jealous. I’ve known him for practically my whole life, and all I ever get is the random ‘hey’ at a party! I just don’t understand why he likes you and not me…no offense.”
I just laugh and roll my eyes at her… “Cool your jets, matchmaker, I don’t like Aiden like that, and neither does he,” (I hope), “I just met him and him and my brother are now apparently best friends, but look I have to go, I’ll just get ready at home and you can call me when I should come over, okay?”
Kyla just said that sounded good, but we would have to talk about the whole incident more later… I wouldn’t have had a problem telling her there, because I felt as if I could trust her, but it was just I needed to talk to my family first and then I could tell my newly discovered friend…and she was hot, what was the downside?
So that week was basically me telling Kyla my life story, including that I was gay. Kyla had no problem and said someone really close to her was gay too…I just look a wild guess that it was her only sibling, the gorgeous girl that had literally taken my breath away my first day in LA, how lucky was I (even though I knew she was WAYYY out of my league). It was weird because Kyla would never really talk about her, and never said her name, she only ever said “my sister…” but that was fine by me, as long as I had a friend to trust.
Glen and Aiden started playing basketball and becoming as close as Kyla and I. I soon learned of Kyla’s huge crush on Aiden since like third grade, but she still felt like he was too immature and a player, which he was. Glen and Aiden would make rude remarks the first couple weeks of the summer, but I think Clay and my dad had a talk with them because they soon started decreasing until they would eventually have my back if anyone said anything negative towards me.
So that was how I mostly spent my first summer in LA, going over to Kyla’s to hang out (which to my dismay her sister was nowhere to be found), or hanging out with Glen and Aiden and Clay. It was strange to think I was always one of the guys until Kyla called and I would come in contact with girls again… not literally, but she always had a couple of her close girl friends over there, and none of them had problems with my sexuality…actually some of them would hit me and I took up a few offers until one day everything changed………
About one week before school started Kyla had called and told me to come over. As I walked over to her house, I let myself in as I did every other time (1. Because the house was so big it was hard to hear the doorbell from the back rooms and, 2. She said no one ever knocked at their house before, why start now?) Well… I just found a reason.
As I walk into Kyla’s kitchen to help myself to the only thing that can quench my thirst, coke, I see the taller brunette from earlier in the kitchen sitting on the island and eating a bowl of cereal.
“Hi, I’m Ashley. You must be Spencer,” she said hopping off the counter and walking toward me.
I cannot move or think, let alone talk… the only thing in my now empty brain is her name, ASHLEY…
