Why Superman Could Never Find a Phone Book – (Chapter: 15: Oleanna)

The puppeteer had awoken from his slumber and Ashley felt a tingling in her hands, as the wires began to sway, like a spider creeping along a strand of its web, hundreds of eyes focused upon the unsuspecting moth that had lost sight of the flame, and needed a soft place to rest and regroup.

She clutched her pant legs and focused on the window, timing her breaths in order to distract herself from the need that had come on full force. It had been building in size and strength, now awoken by the slightest noise, the tiniest glance, and the subtlest brush of Spencer’s arm. Soon it would have a life of its own, no longer relying upon its host for food, water or guidance.

“Ash…” Spencer whispered softly, her breath smelling of soda, a pleasant escape from the odor of fertilizer and rusty metal.

Ashley’s eyes remained in the window.

    “Yah.”

Spencer shifted her weight to her right foot, her right arm almost touching Ashley’s side.

“How you ever…like…done anything with Aiden.”

The statement caused Ashley’s heart to beat faster, her mind unclear as to where this conversation was going to head, and frankly, she didn’t want to know.

“What do you mean, ‘done anything’?” Ashley’s knuckles were white, the flow of blood to her fingers having ceased minutes prior.

Ashley could hear Spencer’s front teeth clicking together, a habit she performed when Mrs. Muller asked her to perform a math equation on the board, or when her mother accused her of breaking the blue vase that sat in the living room.

“You know…have you ever, kissed him, or whatever.” Spencer’s teeth were now clicking incessantly.

Ashley glanced down at the ground and back up to the window. She saw Aiden run around the side of the house, back towards the driveway. He had another soda in his right hand and was attempting to drink it as he huffed along the narrow cement path.

    “No.”

    “…Why not?”

“Well, he’s my friend and I don’t really think about that kind of stuff when he’s around.”

Ashley leaned forward, pretending to search for Aiden, praying he would see the shed and she could get the hell out.

Spencer’s voice rose in volume, a fake confidence replacing the formerly shaky tone.

    1. Sooo I see Spence made the first move and then she tries to make Ash feel bad, This sucks, I mean the fics amazing but man I want them to get together already. LOL keep up the great work

    2. Holy crap!! that was really, really good. Yes, this is definately an interesting side of Spence to see….both of them in the bathroom, and then Spence appearing to freak when Aiden arrived….Spence makin the first move in the shed. It’s so funny to try and picture Aiden as an out of shape dork. haha. Can’t wait to see what’s gonna happen next…or in the past…or whatever the next chapter holds.

    3. i’m speachless. which is a good thing. really really good. BEST FANFIC I have ever read. hell better then alot of books I have read and I read alot. keep posting

    4. I don’t think any comment I could leave you would truly show my appreciation for it. There is so much to say about this chapter, and really just about your writing in general that I don’t even know where to start. I’m really impressed with how creative of an individual you are. Each chapter of this story is almost completely different from the last in terms of the imagery that you use, and yet all of the chapters seem to fit together. I’ll leave you another comment on this later because a million thoughts ran through my head while I was reading this post, and I can’t remember most of them right now.
