New places and old wounds….

“We’ll always be together, no matter what…. nothing can tear us apart now that I’ve found you!”

“Promise?”

“Nothing, I promise”

Next thing she knew, she was outside the house which was the route of all her nightmares….

“……..If I knew how hard it was going to be to love you, I don’t think I would’ve bothered!”

And at that moment she felt her heart breaking all over again, as if she were right there in that moment all over again….

Spencer awoke with a start, sweat dripping off her body and her breath coming in short gasps.  She couldn’t count how many times she had endured that nightmare, how she would relive the worst and best moments of her life in the same dream.  She felt herself calming slightly when she felt a pair of strong arms slowly wrapping around her, engulfing her in a warm embrace.

“You ok babe?” a sleepy voice whispered in her ear

“Yeah, I’m fine thanks go back to sleep sweetie”

“Hmmm ok if you say so Spencer, you sure you’re ok?”

“Yeah, it was just a bad dream that’s all.  I’m fine now that you’re holding me”

“Hmmm I’ll hold you close…. night babe”

And with that Spencer lay back down and softly cried herself to sleep, thinking of all she had lost, including her heart.  She had travelled halfway across the world, left everything behind her and still she couldn’t forget her.  The pain, which she thought would ease with distance and time, had only grown worse to the point where she thought she could no longer bare to breath. When did life become so complicated, when did everything fall apart?

It felt like Spencer had just managed to fall asleep when her alarm went off and she heard an excited voice yelling at her to wake up and get her ass out of bed….

“We’re in Rome!! There’s so much to see and so much to do so get your cute ass out of bed, come on Spencer, please?!”

“What’s the rush, it’s still early?”

“Bloody hell Spencer, you can’t see Rome in a day and we’ve only got a day left! I want to show you as much of it as I can before we head off again tomorrow”
