When Lovers become Strangers – (Chapter: Part 1)
“Jo, I need to talk to you.” Blair barely coughed out as she tried catching her breath. Jo walked back to Blair and grabbed her roughly by the arm and dragged her into her office, she closed the blinds so that no one could see how animated the conversation was going to get. As Blair could feel the anger and tension in the air, she quietly sat herself down. Jo sat on her desk with her staring down on Blair and she cleared her throat before she began to speak. “I’m leaving tonight when I get home at ten. It won’t take long most of the stuff is yours. “Jo got up and turned her back to Blair. Blair got up and tried to embrace Jo from behind, but Jo moved out of her grasp and turned around and her face was red along with tears in her eyes. Just when Blair thought Jo would strike her in the face, Jo’s shoulders slumped and she quietly motioned for her to leave. Blair turned to say something to Jo as she opened the door but chose not to as she saw the woman she loved at her lowest point.
Jo never came home. Blair waited. She waited for hours, those hours turned into days and when she called the station to report Jo missing; her boss informed her that she took a leave of absence and that she should pick up a letter that Jo had left her.
Blair,
I need to go and find my sanity. You and I need time and space. I will contact you when I am ready, if I ever am.
Jo.
Blair was distraught by the turn of events, the way she had messed up their life together for a simply careless act of sex. The life she had with Jo was all that she ever wanted and now it seemed was lost.
New York 2010
The season had come and gone and ten years had passed without a word from Jo. Blair was tempted to get private investigators involved and drag Jo home kicking and screaming but she knew better than that, as Jo would hate her for it. Blair had given up after a year as she knew Jo had made her decision. It was similar to grieving for a loved one and she was determined to live her life now that she knew Jo had decided to live her own. Blair chose to get out more and get into the social side of things and get a new relationship, which she found while she was on her travels; she brought home a French husband named Etienne Faux. Within three years they had created a wonderful corporate alliance but through many failed attempts at parenthood and the countless procedures at the fertility clinic they remained childless, much to Blair’s sadness.
