    “You don’t take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it.”

    * * * * *

    Madison carefully removed the small photo album from the box in the back of her closet for the first time in months. She tearfully began to flip through the pages pausing on one of Ashley, alone. She was asleep on the window seat in Madison’s bedroom, her body curled like a large cat, the thick mass of brown curls covering her face completely. Madison sighed shakily as she remembered the day after the picture was taken…

    It had been the perfect day, Madison and Ashley had gone to the beach at daybreak watching the sun rise as the surfers danced with waves. It had been cool and Ashley and Madison had huddled under a shared blanket until the sun poked reluctantly through the clouds. Madison remembered laughing at Ashley as she continued to yawn and grumble well past daybreak.

    They had gone to Farmers Market, Ashley still grumbling as Madison looked for this small Mexican restaurant she had tried once. Ashley finally smiled as she ate her second helping of Migas. They just wondered the city, enjoying the feeling of freedom, the feeling of being with each other. They headed back to Madison’s house only when the first fat rain drops began to fall, the rare LA thunderstorm coming in heavy and loud.

    Madison gently rubbed Ashley’s shoulder to wake her up, shivering as another thunderbolt shook the house. Ashley turned and looked up at Madison, “Maddy what’s wrong?” Madison stood by the bed wringing her hands, “Ash, I’m scared.” She flinched as another bright streak of lighting illuminated the bedroom. Ashley pulled the tangled covers from underneath her body, “Come on.” Madison climbed into the small twin bed, moving until she was practically on top of Ashley. She could hear Ashley giggling as she pulled her into a tight hug. Madison shivered as another thunderbolt hit, whimpering she closed her eyes and pressed her face under Ashley’s chin. Madison could feel Ashley’s chest moving, as her breathing changed. She trembled as she felt Ashley’s hand near the small of her back, moving in a circular pattern causing little sparks to fire wherever her hand touched.

    Ashley’s voice was deeper, huskier when she spoke again, “Maddy, are you okay?” Madison moved her face, her lips brushing lightly against Ashley’s ear, “As long as you keep holding me, I’ll be okay.” Madison squeezed her eyes closed as she felt Ashley’s hand moving lower, hesitantly stopping on her ass. She could feel Ashley’s pulse quickening, she pulled back looking into Ashley’s eyes, their faces directly opposite each other. Madison could hear Ashley’s breathing become almost a pant, “Maddy…” Madison blushed as she felt Ashley’s gaze examining her, she looked down. She shivered again as she felt Ashley’s hand moving to her chin, pulling her head up gently, “Maddy…look at me.”

Im glad you are giving us the Mashley backstory, something I wish they would do in the actual show. I really hope you update soon.
