We Were Just Meant To Be – (Chapter: 22 – End Of Summer Party.)

“Oh…umm…it…it was…actually Ash, I err…I have to tell you something.” I do not like the sound of this at all. Then it all clicks; the hushed tones, the cooing, the giggles, the weirdo hugs. That’s the way girls go when you tell them about a new sexual experience. I totally would’ve done the same with Becca if I found fucking your boyfriend for the first time a cute thing. And then I feel dizzy.

“Oh okay Spence. Well you just finish talking with her there, and come find me when you’re done.” I rush out, give her a thumbs up, and make my way away from her before she has time to object. I locate my bottle of alcohol and grab it before heading back out to the garden and plopping down next to Becca who was busy watching Kyle try to play Swingball, he sucks at it by the way. I pour another drink, and one for Becca because her glass is dry, and begin to sip my drink.

“She says she has to tell me something Becs.” I say not looking up from my glass.

“She did?” She says it more of a statement, like she knows the news.

“You know what it is don’t you.” That too was a statement.

“I do.” Becca pretty much knows the whole situation with Spencer and I. Spencer told her because she needed someone to talk about it with, which I understand, and Becca is a completely sound person.

“I’m not gonna like it am I?” I definitely heard my desperation there, almost pleading with her to tell me it’s not anything at all like I think it will be. Spencer then walks into the garden and approaches us.

“I don’t think so, Ash.” With Becca’s words ringing in my ears I force the remainder of my drink down.

“Can I talk to you Ash?” Spencer asks. I don’t answer her, instead I decide to stand up and walk away from her as fast as I can, I really don’t want to have this conversation, not now, not here. Spencer obviously can’t take the hint as she catches up to me with a jog. I try, in vain, to get her off my trail for a little while longer before I realise it’s useless and walk into a small toilet under the staircase with Spencer hot on my heels, probably scared that I’d lock her out.
