To Spashley With Love – (Chapter: Chapter Twenty-Four)

A couple weeks later, I was in my bed at my old room. I was still upset over the breakup. I couldn’t stop crying. Was this how heartbreak felt like? I still kept the promise ring on my finger and I didn’t notice until after we broke up that Ashley had it inscribed: Spashley forever, which worsened my depression. I also kept the necklace on as well. It still made it feel like Ashley was around, but it still wasn’t enough for me. It wasn’t as good as being with Ashley. I hadn’t left my room for anything, except using for the bathroom. My Dad wasn’t really around to notice something was wrong with his own daughter. I didn’t leave for school, or to eat. I had lost some weight and my clothes were starting to look baggy. I didn’t bother to take a bath. It wasn’t like Ashley wasn’t trying to be involved in my life like she said was going to, but I couldn’t bear the thought of seeing her and just being her friend. I needed to be more with her. She had left voice mails, texts, and even showed up several times. Glen had been surprisingly supportive during the last couple of weeks and shooed Ashley away. He had tried to get me to talk to him, but I wasn’t able to do that though. I wasn’t ready to admit out loud that what Ashley and I had was now over.

There was a knock on my door. “Go away, Glen,” I said in tears. Glen opened the door anyway. He’s still the same old Glen.

“To me, go away means to come in,” joked Glen. Glen sat on the bed. She came asking for you again. You’re going to have to tell me what happened sooner or later.

“I don’t why she’s even bothering,” I sighed. She dumped me for my own “good”, yet wants a friendship from me?

“I don’t know what happened to the two of you, but maybe she wants to work things out,” responded Glen. She’s worried about you.

“Maybe,” I stated. I never thought I see the day you’re taking Ashley’s side.

“I’m not,” said Glen. I’m taking your side, Spence. I don’t know what else to say to you to make you back to your old self, to pre-Ashley.
