The Slayer Chronicles: Episode 1 – (Chapter: 4 – The test)

“You two really shouldn’t be around here after dark. Are you sure this is where you want to be dropped off?”

“Yeah… we’re meeting someone. How much is the fare?” asks Kennedy a little annoyed and digging in her pockets.

    “Twenty-seven fifty.”

“You’re kidding! What a rip off!” Turning to Sasha, Kennedy says, “Remind me to talk to Giles about getting a car.”

After handing the money to the cab driver, the two Slayers step out into the cool night air.

“Man…. could this place smell any worse?” exclaims Kennedy.

Laughing, Sasha responds, “Definitely one time I don’t want my other senses making up for my lack of sight.”

Kennedy watches the cab drive away. “OK… the sun is almost down. Let’s find a place to hunt.” Digging in her bag, Kennedy produces a wooden stake. “Here. Hide it in your sleeve, but make sure you can get it out easy. I’ve seen some Slayers put it in their waste band, but I think that’s a little dangerous.”

Sasha accepts the stake with some awe. “Wow…this is a little surreal. I still don’t know if I should believe this or not.”

“Oh, you can believe it alright. Trust me…I didn’t want to believe it either. But, it’s who we are. You’ll understand soon enough. Let’s go.”

They walk in silence down the dank, dark street for about ten minutes when Sasha asks, “So…how long have you and Willow been together?”

Stopping dead in her tracks, Kennedy responds bewildered “What? How did you…?”

“How did I know you were together? Well…remember when Dawn and I came out of my bedroom?”

    “Yeah…”

“Well, I felt the two of you…I guess merged is the only way I can describe it. Each person feels different to me and I’ve noticed lately that when two people that are in love are hugging or kissing around me, their essences just kind of turn into one that contains both of them.”

“Did you say in love’?” questions Kennedy with a big smile on her face.

    “Well, yeah. You are…aren’t you?”

“I know I am…but, we haven’t exactly discussed it yet.”

    “Oh…I’m sorry if…”

“No! No….there isn’t anything to be sorry about! But, you SO made my night! Thanks.”

    Giggling Sasha says, “You’re welcome.”
