The New Guy – (Chapter: Chapter Eight)

Spencer leaned in and kissed her cheek. That was it. Spencer knew I was sitting there. She knew I was watching too. I felt anger and jealousy boiling over as I stomped over to their table.

“Hey Ash,” Kyla said peering up at me.

“Save it!” I snapped not taking my eyes off Spencer. Whom was still ignoring my existence. Kyla flinched and I mentally kicked myself for snapping at my sister. She wasn’t the one with the problem Ashley, calm down. I readjusted my tone before speaking again. “Excuse me Ky I have to talk to Spencer,” I announced pulling Spencer up and away from the bench. I could feel Kyla’s stare follow us to the other side of the quad.

“What the hell Davies,” Spencer barked yanking her arm out of my grasp. I stumbled back. There they were those big blue eyes I’d been searching for all day. Only these eyes weren’t the ones I was hoping to find. These eyes were cold, icy. These eyes hurt, pained.

I recollected myself. “Why haven’t you been answering your phone? I’ve called you like a thousand times!”

She crossed her arms with her eyes narrowed at me. “Oh I get it you choose now to care,” She said coldly.

I looked down. She scuffed and started to walk away. “Spence please… I’m sorry ok you don’t understand.”

That stopped her. She turned back to me. “You know what you’re right Ashley. I don’t understand how I could be so stupid to fall for such a selfish bitch!” Her words were cold just like her stare.

I bit back tears that were forming in my eyes. “Yeah?! Well at least I can be who I really am instead of putting on a big hoax for everybody! What’s gonna happen when Kyla realizes the truth Spencer huh?! Or wait what about Madison?! Man she’ll have a field day!”

Her mouth formed a grim line. “That’s none of your damn business.”

“No it is Spencer, Kyla is my sister and I’m not gonna let you play her. I’m not gonna let you hurt her,” I shot back.

“You mean like you did me,” She said, sourly. "I trusted you. I spilled out all my feelings. Stuff about my past that I just wanted to forget, I told you about it. I wanted you to be the one that would fix it all. I wanted you to be the one that made it all better…but that was too much to ask for. You’re reputation meant too much didn’t it?"

I looked down again as I felt hard blow.

I looked up at her sad blue eyes. I saw tears spilling down her cheeks.

“Spence….” I touched her arm only to have it whipped away.

She clenched her jaw. “Don’t. Okay don’t. Just..Just leave me alone Ashley! And stay away from me!” She stormed off leaving me there with nothing but a shredded heart and a blank stare.

I did exactly like she asked. I left early, skipping the rest of my classes for the day. I got to my house grabbing the first  bottle of liquor I could find and took a swig. Party of one? Sounds like a plan! I walked up the stairs to my room, starting in on my ‘party’.

I looked around my room. “Well what’s a party without music,” I asked the empty room. I walked over taking a swig from the bottle before turning on my radio.

    You’re all I ever wanted
You’re all I ever needed (yeah)
So tell me what to do now cuz
    I want you back!

I glared at my stereo. “You’re kidding me right?!”

It’s hard to say I’m sorry
It’s hard to make the things I did undone
A lesson I’ve learned too well for sure
So dont Hang up the phone now I’m trying to figure out just what to do
    I’m going crazy without you…

I took another swig of alcohol. “Okay I get it, I get it! You don’t have to rub it in,” I said back. I laid down on my bed.

Baby I remember the way you used to look at me and say
    "promises never last forever"
    Told you not to worry
I said everthing would be all right
I didn’t know then that you were right

I drank slowly until the end of the song then chunked my half empty bottle at the radio, causing it to fall off the desk. “Fuck you Timberlake!”

    1. Argh! Ashley messed up. No denying that, but did Spencer really have to do that with Kyla? I think that was even a low blow. Getting back at Ashley was one thing, although, I wish Spencer would just hear her out. That’s the problem today, no one hears the other out anymore. Now, they are both doing stupid stuff, when it all could be avoided. I really hope Spencer don’t start anything with Kyla cause that wouldn’t be fair to anyone, especially Kyla. Leading her to believe she likes her, when really she likes Ashley. She is tangling a dangerous web, which I hope she knows how to get out of. I hope you fix this mess you made with them. PMS
