The Dark Side – (Chapter: Eliminate)

“She’s dead,” Spencer replied now crying.

    “Dead, what happened?”

“The paramedics said she must have lost her footing and fell down the stairs breaking her neck.”

“I’m so sorry Spencer do you want me to come over?”

“No you have meetings to deal with.  Take care of them and when you finish come and get me.”

    “Are you sure?”

    “Yes, just hurry please.”

“I’ll be there as soon as I can sweetie.”

    “Ashley…”

    “Yes.”

    “I just don’t understand.”

    “Understand what Spencer?”

“Martha’s gone up and down those stairs a thousand times.  She could be blindfolded and not miss a step.  I don’t know what could have happened?”

“I don’t know Spencer but accidents do happen.”

    ///

Spencer sounded very sad about Martha. I guess that’s to be expected. I didn’t want to do it.  I actually considered sparing her life, erase her memory but she had family and that was too much to deal with.  She’ll get over it. Now I have ten maybe fifteen minutes to take care of my other problem before my next meeting.

I arrive at The Regal Nursing Home, not as elegant looking as the name implied.  I walk into the nursing home sniffing for Gunther Dennison’s scent.  I’m unable to locate his whereabouts in this place which is no surprise given that my last encounter with him was at least seventy years ago and I’m under a time constraint so I go to the front desk and ask the receptionist what room is Gunther Dennison in.

“Excuse me Kathy,” I said reading her name off her nameplate.  “Can you help me? I’m looking for Gunther Dennison’s room.”  She looked up at me staring deeply into my eyes that have turned a hypnotic golden color.

“Umm… yeah, Room 301 on the third floor.”

“Forget,” I said softly waving the palm if my hand in front of her face as she continued to stare at me.  I look at the numbers on the door, Room 301. Without knocking, I enter the room and there is Gunther Dennison, my old arch enemy and I do mean old.

“I’ve been expecting you, Ashley, Princess of Darkness.”

“Well age hasn’t made your mind feeble Gunther.”

“Age has caught up with me physically but my mind is as sharp as a tack when it comes to you and your kind.  You’re here to kill me aren’t you?”

    3. well hey it had to be done if ash is to be able to truly turn spence so oh well! and I love the whole ‘I’ in italics when talking about aiden… so who’s she going to get to kill him I wonder? I have some thoughts on it. too bad spence misses martha, does complicate things a tad bit but I’m guessing once she’s fully turned it won’t matter too much. excellent update, pms!
