I wait in the lobby to see her car pull up. I get in to see that Ashley’s practically foaming at the mouth. “Um, hi.” I say cautiously, hoping she won’t pounce on me. She doesn’t respond and we ride all the way back to her apartment in silence. When we get in her apartment she makes her mood more known by throwing her keys on the kitchen counter so loud that I jump where I’m standing. As she keeps walking to go to her bedroom, I realize whatever happened between the two of them was bigger than what I could get a handle on.

“Okay, obviously you don’t want to talk about this.” I say as she looks over her shoulder at me and gives me a look so intense that I can actually feel the fire shooting out of her eyes. “…So we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.” I make my way to her bedroom where I see her sitting on her bed with her back to me. I go to sit beside her to only have her move further away. “What’s wrong?” I ask her.

“What’s wrong? Did you really just ask me that? What’s wrong is that it’s never enough for you is it?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean you’ll never know enough to be satisfied. I tell you something and you just pry deeper to know more. Maybe I don’t want to talk about it and maybe I don’t want you to know the whole story.”

“Well if you didn’t want me to know then you should have just told me.” Here we go again. “I trusted you to tell me what happened, because I want to know. I want to know how he hurt you so I can try and make it better. I trusted you to tell me everything but you just used that to your advantage to tell me whatever you wanted me to believe. He obviously hurt you more than I can imagine but I want to help, not use it to tear you down.” I say wondering what else I can do to show her that she can trust me.

“When will it be enough for you to finally stop?” She says looking at me with serious eyes.
