“So you seem chipper tonight.” Aiden says after I get done telling him a story about my anthropology test and how I was excited about it. Yeah, it was that noticeable.

“What do you mean?”

“Spencer, you just told me that you were excited to take your anthropology test. Not many people get excited about tests. What’s with you?”

“I don’t know. I’m just happy.” And with that then I see him getting a grin on his face thinking I mean I’m happy that I’m with him. “I’m happy that everything with Ashley and I are finally going okay and that everything’s out in the open.”

His smile fades as he looks down at his food and begins to play with it. “Oh. Well happy to hear that.”

“Yeah.” I say, stopping myself from saying more and making him more uncomfortable.

“So I’m guessing you guys talked about what happened between me and her.”

“Um, yeah we did.”

“I gotcha. What all did she say?” He says with concern growing in his voice.

“Well she told me that you were pretty much a dick to her and dated her to get to her dad.” I’m amazed that saying that just rolls off my tongue.

“Was that all she said?” Aiden asks looking up to me with a surprised look on his face.

“Yeah.” I say slowly. “I mean there was a little bit more but that was the gist of what she said.” Now I’m the one with the concerned and confused face.

“Okay.” He says it shortly and goes back to focusing on his food and begins eating the little bit he still has on his plate. I can’t help but feel more confused than before Ashley even brought up that something happened between the two of them. “How about some dessert?” He asks trying desperately to change the subject.

“Hold up a second. Was there more that happened between you and Ashley?”

“If that’s all that Ashley told you, then that’s all that happened.”

I feel the blood begin to rush to my face as the realization sets in that Ashley either lied to me or didn’t tell me the whole truth. “Aiden. Was. There. More. That. Happened. Between. You. And. Ashley?” I ask once again, narrowing my eyes.
