Spin – (Chapter: Body Shots and Private Places)

As I scrambled to my feet I kept my eyes glued to the back of her blonde head, making sure I kept track of her in the crowd because I certainly didn’t want to lose her.  I figured we needed to talk, and soon, because the longer we left things to become awkward, the harder it would be to bring up in conversation.  I didn’t know why it was such a big deal, but something had just transpired between us that had spun our combined world completely off its axis.

Tripping up over my own feet as I left the circle, I cursed myself for drinking so much – I had a feeling I needed to be sober for whatever was about to happen between Spence and I, and due to the fact my eyes refused to see straight and everything was in double-vision, I managed to lose her within seconds of vowing to not let her out of my sight.  It was probably for the best in some respects, because I was unlikely to be able to hold a sensible conversation whilst that inebriated.

Just as I was about to give up my search in favour of sitting back down somewhere and wallowing in self pity, I felt a hand grasp my arm and pull me around.

“Do a body shot with me?”

It was Aiden, and he was somehow even more drunk than I was.  I could smell the tequila on his breath and couldn’t help but notice how bloodshot his eyes were.  He swayed slightly before me as he silently pleaded with me to join him and the large group that was forming around the bar on the decking in his garden.  The state he was in made me look positively sober.

“No,” I said.  Drinking tequila was the last thing I wanted to do, especially with my fake boyfriend.  All I wanted to do was find Spencer and figure out why the hell my heart suddenly started beating so fast when I thought about her.  I wondered if she had that effect on everyone she kissed, or if it was just me in which she provoked the feeling.  I wanted to know what it felt like to kiss her when we weren’t being timed by horny jocks, and if she had become as light headed as I had when we gave in to that fateful spin of the bottle.
