somewhere in between. – (Chapter: deepness in equality.)

“I met someone today, she was pretty cool.” Ashley told her sister walking into the kitchen

“Oh, really? Who?” kyla asked without really caring, thinking the same thing as usual ‘poor girl, doesn’t even know what’s coming’

“Her names Spencer” Ashley went over to sit on a chair at the island, with her phone in hand

“CARLIN?!”  Kyla yelled looking up from her book, scaring Ashley causing her to almost drop her phone

“Hum… Yeahh..” great Ashley thought. They know each other.

“Dude! Seriously… You didn’t like hit on her… Did you? Like really, you can’t go down that road. You can’t fuck Spencer over.” She told her sister with a ‘fuck off’ look

“Okay. Really? Simmer the fuck down, Ky. She gave me her number, and I gave her mine. I told her to text ME, I didn’t hold a gun to her head and tell her to text me, what’s the big deal. Seriously, and why does everyone keep saying DUDE?!” Ashley was starting to get pissed off.

Kyla walked over and stood in front of her sister. “Ashley, look. Spencers had a rough year. She’s still trying to figure some stuff out. It’d just be best if you didn’t  text her back. Okay? I love you sis, but for me, please.” Kyla pleaded. What was Spencer still trying to figure out? She looked pretty sane to Ashley.

“What’s going on ky? She seemed normal, and she’s cute. What’s she still trying to get over?” Ashley knew pain. She knew heartbreak and she knew what it was like waking up and wishing she never had. Everyday was a battle for her, and coping was something she learned to do over time, it didn’t mean that her wounds weren’t as fresh as they were when she first got them, that her scars weren’t as painful as the day before.

“Last year at prom, she lost her brother in a drive by. Nobody saw it coming, Aiden was shot. You remember, she’s the one who lost her brother, you can tell she’s broken, that everyday is just as hard as it was a year ago.” Ashley was just silent looking down. “and, we tried hooking you up last year, you bailed.” She looked up at kyla with tears brimming her eyes
