She’s Unresponsive Because Your Irresponsible – (Chapter: Four- One Can Only Hope)
Chapter Four: One Can Only Hope
I am careful to step as silently as possible through my back door, not wanting to alert anyone to my presence. My eyes immediately dart over to the yard adjacent to me to check for life, and I am surprised to see Spencer on her back in a lawn chair, face buried in a book and white ipod headphones tucked into her ears. She is wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top, and my eyes slowly make a path from her bare feet, up those magnificent toned legs, past the slim waist, over the curve of her chest, before halting on her face. She looks so lost in her book, with her lips pressed into a line of concentration while those blue eyes scan the pages.
I would give anything to go back in time and change the way things happened. I should have accepted the help when it was offered, but I didn’t want to use her. The perverse thing is that the last thing I ever intended was for her to get hurt, but in reality I was hurting her more than I could have imagined. The look on her face when she discovered us in that closet is firmly burned into my memory, and on late nights it still haunts me.
I wish I could think of a reason good enough to justify my actions, but the more I debate about it, the more I wonder how I could possibly think that was the best option for me to take. A girl like Spencer, she deserves better. And me? Well, frankly I don’t think I deserve anything at all anymore.
The sound of someone clearing their throat jolts me from my thoughts, and I am a bit stunned to see Glen standing and giving me that look. It is a look of warning. But I refuse to be chased out of my own yard by some watch dog big brother.
“I thought we talked about this.” His voice is quiet as he is obviously trying not to catch Spencer’s attention.
“What? I’m not doing anything.” I reply, arms folding over my chest as I watch him give a frown, both of our gazes shifting to Spencer for a moment before they meet again.

Eloquent, heartfelt, stunning, fascinating, captivating, but most of all honest…these are the words I would use to describe this awesome story on love lost and the hope of it being found again. I applaud you! PMS
