Secrets Of Life – (Chapter: Chapter 7)

Its been a few weeks since Spencer and Glen rescued Ashley. Aiden didnt show up to school the first week after the whole incident. But, he’s back now. Ashley found out that it was Madison that slept with Aiden. She never got a chance to confront her though because Madison is always with Aiden now that they are officially together. Aiden tried to walk up to Ashley the first week he came back but Glen scared him off. Ashley was almost fully healed and whatever was still bruised she covered with make-up. She was slowly becoming her old self again. Her and Spencer were nearly inseperable now. Spencer was too scared to leave Ashley alone and Ashley enjoyed the company. Spencer has avoided the whole ‘she really loves Ashley’ talk with Glen. She’s avoided it like the plague.

It’s now Sunday night and Spencer is up in her room listening to music. Glen sees this as the perfect oppurtunity to talk to Spencer. He just wants her to be honest with him, to be able to tell him anything. He wants her to know that he’ll still love her regardless. He approaches Spencer’s door and knocks.

       "Doors open!"
       "Hey, lil sis."
"Hey, Glen. What’s up?" She sits up and motions for him to sit on her bed. He complies.
       "How’s Ashley?"
"Good. She’s starting to act like normal again."
       "Yeah? That’s good." Spencer sighed.
"You want to talk about what I said to you a few weeks ago, right?"
"Yeah, and I have a feeling it’ll do ya some good to get it off of your chest."
"I dont want you to hate me or think I’m some kind of freak or something."
"Spencer," He wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "You’re my little sister. I could never hate you or think that you’re a freak. I’ll always love you no matter who you love."
       "Thanks."
       "So how long?"
       "How long what?"
"How long have you been into Ashley?"
       "I’d say about a year."
"Hot damn! That’s a long time."
"Tell me about it. But she doesn’t even know that I like girls. I don’t want her to be disgusted with me or be uncomfortable around me."
"I’m sure she wouldn’t think that, Spence."
"I don’t want to lose her. I can’t lose her. What if I tell her how I feel and she gets all weirded out?"
"What if she feels the same?"
"What if she doesn’t? Besides with all that’s happened, she doesn’t need any added stress. She just needs a friend."
"You can’t hide your true feelings forever."
"I know." She wiped away a tear. "I’m trying so hard to convince myself that being her friend is enough. But everytime I’m with her I wanna kiss her. Everytime she cries, I wanna hold her and wipe away all the tears. Everytime she’s in pain, I wanna take it all away and kill whoever caused it. Everytime she smiles, I want it to be for me. Everytime she blushed I want to tell her how cute it is. Everytime we hug, I wanna hold her just a little longer. Everytime she falls down, I wanna pick her up. Whenever she gets excited over little things, or randomly blurt out a silly idea, I wanna be right there with her. Whenever she’s tired of the world, I want her to come to me. I want to hold her while she sleeps and protect her from her nightmares. She’s perfect and I can’t have her. Being just her friend is killing me. I just want her to want me, Glen. I want her to love me like I love her. I need her."

Glen’s jaw dropped. He had no idea what to say. Spencer has never spoken of someone this highly, with this much love. He was at a loss of words so he just embraced his sister. She continued to speak of her feelings for Ashley.

"She’s breaking me heart and she isn’t even doing anything wrong. But I’m afraid that if she stops, I’ll die. I’d rather her break my heart than not be there at all. Glen, she has my heart in her hands. She can do whatever she wants with it. Squeeze it, break it, crush it, burn it, tear it apart, shred it, or wear it around her neck. I don’t care as long as she doesn’t throw it away. As long as she has it. I don’t care."

Spencer continued to speak of Ashley. Glen continued to hold her and then he looked up. Ashley was standing there in the doorway with tear-filled eyes.

"Spencer, Ashley’s.." But she cut him off.
"She’s amazing isn’t she? She’s an angel. She deserves the best of everything in the world.
"Spencer." He pulled away from her.
"What?" He pointed towards the doorway. Spencer looked.
       "Ashley?" She whispered.
