Ashley pulled up her Porsche in the King High parking lot. She sighed in exasperation when she saw Melody waving at her. When she saw Spencer on the passenger seat, she was shooting daggers at Spencer. “She won’t leave me alone, Spence,” Ashley began with a frustrated sigh. “It’s almost like she doesn’t know that it’s over or something. How many different ways can you possibly tell someone that you don’t want anything to do with them?”

“She’s in Denial Island, Ash,” added Spencer. “She’s just not ready to let go of you just yet. I don’t blame her. Who would want to let go of you though?” A smile formed on Ashley’s lips and Spencer returned the smile.

“She better get off the damn island soon,” Ashley sighed. “I’m getting sick of her following me around like a lost puppy. I don’t even know why I dated her to begin with. She’s so damn clingy. W-wait, did you just agree with something that Melody is doing? Is the world coming to an end?”

“Maybe you thought that you had the “spark” with her or something and that’s why you dated her,” concluded Spencer. “I’m giving you my theory of why your ex-girlfriend is your current stalker.”

“I know that I didn’t ever feel a spark when I was with her,” Ashley responded simply. “Maybe I was just looking for someone so I didn’t have to be alone. So I didn’t ultimately wind up alone.”

“You’re not going to wind up alone,” pointed out Spencer. “The one is who is mostly going to wind up alone is me.”

“No, you’re not,” Ashley responded reassuringly.

“Yes, I am,” sighed Spencer. “So are you ready to deal with the burden known as Hurricane Melody?”

“I guess,” Ashley answered with a sigh. Spencer gave Ashley a look. “As ready as I’ll ever be, Spence.”

“You’re whipped,” joked Spencer.

“Luckily, we’re not dating,” Ashley teased.

“Why?” asked a hurt Spencer. “I’m not good enough or pretty enough for you or something?”

“I didn’t mean it like it’s a bad thing or anything,” Ashley answered. “I meant that I do whatever you tell me. I’m pretty much wrapped around your finger. You could use that for your power.”

“Look, it doesn’t matter,” lied Spencer. “You’re just looking for a girl that you feel a spark with and we both know that girl isn’t me.”
