“Always,” She repeated. “I have been doing little gigs on open mic nights since I was in high school. It’s just a way to escape and put everything you want to say into song.”

“Aw, now look whose profession is cute.” Spencer teased Ashley causing her to giggle a bit as she watched the road. Soon they arrived at their destination and escaped the car and made their way inside.

Ashley saw a photograph hanging on the wall marking the exhibit and immediately grabbed Spencer’s hand and rushed her to it. “Buddy Holly?” Spencer asked reading the plaque below the photo.

“Do not even tell me you don’t know who Buddy Holly is.” Ashley said only receiving a raised eyebrow and a shrug in response. Ashley handed the set of headphones from the locked down CD player. “Listen,” She said as she grabbed the other pair and put them on and hit ‘play’ and immediately began bouncing around to the beat of the song. It wasn’t long before Spencer found herself trapped into the sound of the stereo and she was bouncing right along with Ashley.

Spencer found herself trapped into the oldies music. On a normal day she would have thought the song needed serious readjusting, but tonight she was having fun and didn’t really care how bad the song sounded.

It wasn’t long before both girls conjoined their hands and began dancing together. They were definitely getting closer than they expected, and im not talking in the friendship way.

It was over too soon and both girls separated their hands still laughing and removed their headsets. “Oh my god, I can’t believe you actually listen to that crap!” Spencer exclaimed still laughing.

“Crap?” Ashley repeated. “If I weren’t mistaken, you were dancing too.” Ashley tried speaking through her laughter but was close to failing miserably. “I love Buddy Holly.” Ashley said finally calming down.

“Ha, whatever,” Spencer laughed before seeing an exhibit down the hall. “Hey, since I had to endure that crap, you have to endure some of my music.” Spencer said suddenly.

“What?” Ashley asked before she was once again taken by the hand and lead to an exhibit. Ashley immediately began reading the plaque as Spencer made her put on the headset. “The Murmurs…” She trailed off into the sound of a slow tempo song. There was no dancing this time, but Ashley and Spencer flipped through the book of photo’s that lay there on display.

The song was over and Spencer stared at Ashley awaiting her opinion. “So what did you think?” Spencer asked.

“I hate to admit it, but they are better than Buddy Holly.”

“Yes, I win.” Spencer laughed.

“Yeah, plus they are totally hot. Did you see some of those pictures?” Spencer went silent not knowing how to take it. She didn’t suspect Ashley as being gay in the least bit…okay so she did suspect it, she just didn’t know how to take it in. “Right, now I’ve embarrassed myself.” Ashley said.

“No, no, you just surprised me is all.” Spencer said awkwardly. She desperately searched for a change of subject. “So how about we get away from the sixties and nineties music and look for some more recent things eh? I could use another dance.” Spencer said pulling Ashley in the direction of the more recent music.
