“Do you have to be so small minded?” She asked.
“But it’s been forever since we have…you know.” Aiden complained.
“Forever? Aiden, it’s been two days.” She exclaimed. She hated how guys couldn’t go more than two days without sex. It bugged her that she would have to become some kind of sex machine to please her boyfriend. “I have to call Ashley.” She stood from the couch and walked into the kitchen grabbing the cordless and sitting at the table.
She pulled the number from her pocket and dialed it slowly. She couldn’t quite place why she was so nervous; it was just a phone call. “Hello?” A slightly familiar voice answered the phone sending Spencer’s stomach into flips. The voice was only vaguely familiar, but one she hoped to get more familiar with.
“Hey it’s Spencer.” She said wanting to get that out of the way.
“Oh, hey Spencer, what’s up?” Ashley spoke casually.
“Nothing thrilling, just calling like I said I would.” She was nervous and she hoped it didn’t show through her voice. There was something about this girl that had Spencer in a bundle of nerves and she hated that she couldn’t pin it down.
“Cool, so do you want me to pick you up, now?”
“Um, yeah sure, right” Spencer went on giving Ashley directions to her house and her address and even her phone number in case she got lost.
“Alright, I should be there in about fifteen minutes.” Ashley assured her.
“Fifteen minutes?” Spencer asked knowing that the instructions she gave would at least take at least thirty.
“Yeah, I drive like a maniac.” Ashley joked. “I’m kidding. I know a shortcut.”
“Alright, I’ll see you then.” Spencer said sounding rather lame and she could have hit herself for it.
“Alright, bye” The line went dead and Spencer realized that she still looked like crap. She rushed into her closet and threw together an outfit that said she was sophisticated, but still enjoyed having fun. It was a pair of faded blue jeans with a pair of vans slip-ons and a low v-neck back shirt that clung to her body in all the right places. She did her make-up more appropriate for going out than teaching little kids. She looked at the clock and realized that she still had about six minutes. She threw her hair up into a bun and wrapped a necklace around her neck leaving her with two minutes to spare. She chose a purse to carry and filled it with her belongings. When the doorbell rang, she rushed even quicker but still expected Aiden to get it.
