Mrs. Officer – (Chapter: Dinner at the Davies)
While we were waiting for dinner to be ready, my parents told Spencer and I the story of how they met and of course I had to hear my dad tell Spencer about his days with the police force. I’ve only heard them about a million times. Thankfully Kyla and Max walked in just as he was about to get to another long one.
“Hello family!” Kyla sung into the house.
“Go figure you show up right when dinner’s ready.” I teased my sister and she gave me the finger.
“Kyla Davies!” My mother gasped. “And who might this strapping young man be?” She joked, because she’s known Max for a couple weeks now.
“Hey Christine, how’s it going?”
Max gave my mom a big hug then moved on to my father for a friendly handshake.
The rest of the night went smoothly. There were a lot of jokes made followed by a lot of laughter and overall everyone had a great time. After everyone had finished up dinner and it was all cleaned up, we said our goodbyes.
“Spencer, we’re so glad you could make it tonight.” My mom said, pulling Spencer in for one final hug.
“Thanks Mrs. Davies. It’s hard to stay away when you have such a wonderful family.” Spencer replied, smiling at me the whole time.
“Oh please call me Christine. And you’re welcome here anytime.”
I had butterflies in my stomach as I watched the scene before me. I was so pleased by everything that happened tonight and it was such a huge step in mine and Spencer’s relationship.
My dad being the gentleman he is placed a kiss on Spencer’s hand, telling her what a pleasure it was to meet her. And I had such a hard time holding back laughter as Spencer blushed from his gesture. Once I had kissed both my parents goodbye, Spencer and I headed back out to my car. We stood by the passenger side of the car and she let out a loud sigh.
“That went well. Better than expected actually.” She told me and I just smirked at her.
“Now I don’t want to be the one to say I told you so, but I TOLD YOU SO!”
I bounced up and down on the balls of my feet excitedly, teasing my girlfriend.
“Yeah yeah, whatever.” She said, gently pushing me back into the car. “You were right and I should have listened, happy now?”
“Mmmm… I don’t know Spence. I think you can do better.”
“Take me home and we’ll find out, won’t we?” She purred in my ear and I instantly sprinted to the driver’s seat.
I could hear her laughing at me as I hopped in the car.
“Get in the car woman!”
While I waited impatiently for Spencer to get settled in her seat, I felt my cell phone vibrating in my pocket.
‘Who would be texting me?’ I thought as I flipped open my phone.
