Ch2: My Darling, My Goddess
As I answered Alice’s chaste kisses with my own, between our ragged breaths, I heard what could only be the sound of a silent, warm, tear sliding down the length of Bella’s ivory cheekbone. Right, silent; I chuckled onto Alice’s lips as I listened to the frantic beat of Bella’s fluttering heart as it stopped and fluttered again, if possible, more frantic than before. Alice, then, pulled away from me; far enough to gaze at my face and ask, with her curious eyes, a silent question.
“Listen closely,” I urged, as my reply, under her questioning gaze. She frowned, momentarily; looking at me questionably before deciding to do just that, listen. She listened and almost immediately understanding flooded her flawless features, followed by the silliest of happy grins she could muster, she looked almost smug; I chuckled at her reaction and lowered my lips to place a kiss by her jaw- she sighed with pleasure.
“Those tears aren’t so silent,” she murmured, amused.
“No,” I admitted, “not with her heart beating so frantically for us to hear.”
Alice nodded with a chuckle as she appraised me and asked in an almost inaudible whisper, “What are her feelings at the moment?”
“She feels like… she could die,” I consented after a moments thought of deciphering, amused, due to Alice’s shocked face.
“From happiness,” I hasten to add for my Alice’s benefit, as I already imagined Alice’s mind formulating a plan in which she would attempt to bring Bella out of death’s clutches, by force, if need be even if it was against everyone’s wishes; as stubborn as she was I could clearly picture it and it brought a smile to my face. This was the face that only I got to see on a daily basis; somehow I always managed to unexpectedly surprise Alice, I guess it was because it was me and, hell, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel smug about it.
“Oh,” she breathed quietly, clearly relieved, then noticing my smile and registering what I had said she smacked my head playfully looking ‘stern’ but failing miserably as the ghost of a smile threatened to curve her lips and gave her away as she gave in.
