Lost in the Move – (Chapter: 6 Sand Castles and Sunsets)

"Okay, okay.  Just let me grab my stuff.  See you in a minute."  I say as I grab my bag and head downstairs.  "Mom, Dad! Ashley’s here! I’m leaving!"  I yell.  Just as I put my hand on the front door knob, my mother stops me.

"Spencer, before you can spend the night with Ashley your father and I need to meet her."  She informs me.  Why do my parents have to be so overprotective?  I swear they have a knack for ruining all the fun or at least preventing it.  I think that’s the number one rule in the parents handbook.

"Okay, let me go get her."  I say as I step out the door closing it behind me.  I glance up and see one of the most breath taking sights.  Before this moment I never really understood the appeal of car shows.  I mean what is the point of a model in a bikini standing next to a convertible?  Well, I totally get it now.  Ashley is leaning against her porsche, wearing a black string bikini top, a very very short denim skirt, and flip-flops.  I must have been staring a few minutes because I hear her laughing.

"Drool much Spence?"  She laughs.  "Come on pretty girl, let’s go."  She says opening the car door for me.

"Wait a sec Ash.  Umm…my parents want to meet you before we go."  I can tell by the look of terror on her face that she doesn’t want to.  "They said I can’t stay the night if you don’t come in."  I say taking her hand.

"I don’t know Spence.  Parents and I don’t really mix."  She says nervously.

"Come on Ash.  Please, for me?"  I ask giving her my classic head tilt and pout.  She smiles.  Ha, no one can resist my pout.

"Fine, but if they lock you up to keep you away from me it’s your fault."

"But you’ll come and bust me out, won’t you?"  I ask as we walk to the door.

"Of course."  She sighs as we enter the house.   My parents are waiting in the living room.

"Mom, Dad this is Ashley."  I introduce them.

"Nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Carlin."  Ashley says nervously, waving to my parents.
