Los Angeles Breeds Forbidden Love – (Chapter: Five- Reflection, Recollection)

She looked at the happy image, her finger gently tracing over the faces, trying to imagine what their facial features would feel like beneath her touch. Sarah was easy to recall, but the other girl was difficult to picture. She had nicely set high cheek bones and a strong square jaw. One wouldn’t really describe her as feminine or delicate, more just striking. Her smile, which Spencer was yet to witness in person, radiated carefree happiness and energy, the slight crinkle in her nose quite charming. Spencer sort of wished she could witness this version of the girl, she imagined she was probably quite likable.

Sarah also looked exceedingly jovial, her blue eyes always being the first thing to draw Spencer’s attention. Her features were a bit more girlish than Ashley, with her long lashes and long slender neck. She could still feel the tickle of her plush lips against her skin, and the thought was enough to send tiny shivers up her spine. Now that she’d absorbed every detail of the individuals, she took in the photo as a whole. Seeing them together was painful even now, and the words of the brunette echoed in her mind. She never loved you. You were convenient. Maybe it was true. Sarah had to be unsatisfied in some way if she was out screwing other girls.

Perhaps she was too timid? She’d never been one to take the first step, it’d been that way since she was a little kid. Her teacher would constantly chastise her for not volunteering enough or for reading aloud too quietly. It’d made for a rather awkward childhood indeed. She could still remember her first date clear as day, which had only set the stage for a hundred more embarrassing first dates to come.

God, I can’t believe I am doing this. Is it too late to just leave? These are the thoughts running across a young Spencer’s mind as she compulsively smoothed her T-shirt and checked to make sure her well fitting jeans were still secure on her waist. Even she’d admit, she looked good, but that was irrelevant. It didn’t sooth the nerves that seemed to be on fire or calm the heart that was beating at what must have been unhealthy rates. But, then she saw him, leaning against a wall and looking vaguely lost and uncomfortable. A moment later, he saw her, and she knew it was too late to run.
