The alarm went off. It was already six a.m. 

I groaned. Three hours of sleep was not enough but I was getting used to it. Sneaking back into the house at two thirty in the morning after playing kiddy games in the woods most of the night, was a piece of cake. Amy was sleeping on the couch, papers spread across the floor and loveseat. She was a deep sleeper too. I went up the stairs, taking a shower to clean and wind myself down. My muddy clothes, I slid in some mud a couple times, went into the garbage. 

I got up, getting dressed, ate, and got my keys. I looked like hell. But I couldn't stay at Amy's house, she would probably figure it out. Besides it was the second day of school, and I had a biology project to work on. 

The day was long, Jaden and David talked non-stop about the next night games, inviting more people, making bigger plans. Jenna was quiet, she slept during lunch. Alyssa had bounced back from a night of running, talking up a storm, leading two conversations at once. I swear she had the energy of a toddler. I would kill for a shred of that energy right now.

"Are you okay?"Nessie's musical voice echoed through my head, waking me up. I jerked my head up, confused.

"Was I sleeping?"I asked, frowning.

"That's what it looked like."She murmured, looking at me with knowing brown eyes. My frown deepened.

"Sorry. I usually don't fall asleep like that. Ever."

"It's fine." She said softly, putting a hand on mine. "Listen, do you think we could meet after school? At the cafe and work on this?"

"Um….yeah. Sounds great." 

She smiled.

"Girls." Mr.Cox warned, I just nodded my head.

"Where ya off to?"Amy asked, I was packing up my bag, getting ready to leave.

"The cafe to work on this"-I held up biology sheets-"with Nessie."

"Nessie Cullen, huh?"She asked, "I knew Carlisle and his wife, Esme. Nice people. They like to adopt. Nessie and her two brothers were the latest to be adopted by the Cullens."

I rubbed the back of my neck, "How many are there?"

"Eight, nine of them. Nessie and her two brothers are the last ones still in high school. The rest of them are in college."Amy said, looking at my homework.
