Haunted Mansion
“Dad will you turn on the radio? It’s too quiet in here.”
“Sure honey.” Other than the radio, silence engulfs the SUV. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the music that was playing until it was abruptly interrupted.
“We interrupt this broadcast with an update on the cemetery vandalism. Cedar Park Cemetery which was vandalized earlier today is still under investigation. The police are still looking for the culprits. Grounds keepers say that several burial plots were dug up and the bodies missing. The grounds keepers are not completely sure how the bodies were taken since the holes dug were not big enough to open any caskets. One grounds keeper did say it looked as though the bodies just pushed themselves up through the dirt to the surface.”
Everyone in the SUV looked at each other while Arthur had a grim expression on his face. “What’s wrong dad,” Glen asks.
“Mmmm, nothing Glen.”
“Mr. C isn’t Cedar Park Cemetery near the Haunted Mansion?”
“Uhh, yes Chelsea, I believe it is.” The rest of the ride continued in an eerie silence. Ten minutes later and after driving by the cemetery in question the group arrived at the Haunted Mansion.
“Okay here we are kids. Get your sleeping bags and head towards the mansion. Glen here are the keys to unlock the door. I’ll see everyone in the morning,” Arthur said.
“Huh? Dad aren’t you coming inside with us?” Spencer asks.
“HELL NO! Haha! I mean no sweetheart. This enjoyment is for you guys, no parents allowed. Everything should be set up for you inside. So have a good night. Bye!”
Arthur jetted back into the SUV, started the engine up and screeched away.
“Wow Spence, Mr. C sure was in a hurry to leave. What’s up with that?” Ashley asks.
“Got me,” Spencer shrugs. “Okay everyone lets get inside. I think it’s going to storm tonight.”
“Storm, Spence there’s not a cloud in the sky.”
Sure enough as soon as everyone got settled inside a clap of thunder was heard in the distance, along with flashes of lightning. Five minutes later the storm was in full force.
“Wow! It’s really stormin out there,” Chelsea said.
Everyone was in the living room when a brisk breeze of cold air filtered throughout the room. “Burrr, Spence why is it so cold in here. When we walked in it wasn’t cold,” Ashley stated.
