Hand In Glove – (Chapter: 3: Lips Like Sugar, Sugar Kisses)

As I lay limp in Ashley’s arm, sending up a silent prayer that the rumble of the dryer somewhat muffled my cries of pleasure, I heard her say it. The simple words that escaped her lips felt un-triggered and yet, so natural.

    "I love you."

    FLASHBACK
    ***************

Spencer Carlin timidly approached the Davies household wondering if her run in with her neighbor could potentially lead to a lasting friendship. Spencer wasn’t exactly the most popular person at school, but she also wasn’t the least popular. She had some friends, but a part of her always yearned for the closeness that comes with having a best friend. A person that you couldn’t help but trust with your life and all your deepest secrets.

She never really saw herself amongst the really popular kids, but she envied their ability to find a unique intimacy within their own cliques. She craved that intimacy with some people, or someone.

    *DING DONG*

The door to the Davies mansion immediately swung open.

"You must be Spencer! I’m delighted to meet you. My name is Christine Davies," a friendly looking woman greeted Spencer with a smile on her face.

"Hi, it’s nice to meet you. Um, I’m here to go out for some lunch with Kyla."

"Well, Kyla should be finishing up her shower soon, but you’re welcome to make yourself at home. I’m going to be stepping out for a little while to pick up some groceries."

"Oh, well, thank you. I’ll try not to create a mess."

Christine let out a small laugh and responded, "I don’t really think you can make this place any messier than it already is. I hope to see you around some more."

"Definitely. Have a nice time shopping!" Spencer cheerily called out as Christine left her in her spacious foyer.

Spencer slowly gazed at the beauty of the mansion before her. It definitely needed to be a bit more organized, but that was expected from such a new home. After relishing her surroundings, she preceded into the lavish living room and took a seat on the plush couch. She decided to momentarily rest her eyes and put her feet up on a nearby box, but her peace was interrupted someone clearing their throat.

"Uh, hi, can I help you?" questioned a petite brunette.
