…Good Enough For Me? – (Chapter: Love is Overrated)
Ashley’s Pov:
I wanted to sock this cocky bitch. Really, I did. And I would’ve, had Spencer said she liked me too or something. But she didn’t. Instead, she got up and walked off with that sorry excuse for a girlfriend, turning around briefly to glance at me as if to say, “sorry.” My shoulders slumped in my seat as I stared down at the table. “It’s alright, Ashley. Those two never last very long together, anyway.” Chelsea said, winking at me. I dejectedly picked at me food, not believing that she’d snatched Spencer away from me. I only had one more class after lunch, and that was gym. I didn’t see any sign of her after lunch. That jackhole must’ve drove off with her or something. This was war. Spencer isn’t even interested in that freak anyhow. I have to show Spencer who’s the far better choice. I’m by far one of the richest people in L.A., I’m smokin’ hot, and I have Spencer’s interests in heart also.
Spencer’s POV:
They say boys and their testosterone. Well the little spat between Ashley and my ex here had nothing to do with boys, and they almost took a bite out of each other. Ashley does have an interest in me, doesn’t she? Or am I jumping to conclusions just because I know she’s gay too? Anyway, I’m glad I resolved the argument somewhat, or at least stopped it from turning into a fight by agreeing to go off with my ex. Honestly, I’m so sick of relationships. People lie, cheat, break your heart, and make you wonder if love really exists and if it does, is it really worth all the shit you have to go through? Right now I’m in my ex but -soon to- be- girlfriend- again’s car probably headed to her house for mindless fucking that leaves me feeling cheap and dirty after. I could feel my breath constricting in my chest. How did things go so wrong between me and her? Where, exactly, did we go wrong? She wasn’t always like this. I remember how she was so sweet, so gentle and caring when we first go together. Then the cheating started, we got more and more distant, and broke up and then got together again and kept repeating that cycle. I let out a sigh of disgust. I couldn’t do this anymore. I’m tired of relationships; I don’t care about love or any of that crap. Clearly isn’t worth it, if you ask me. I was going to end this. For good. I didn’t get out of her car when we pulled up to her house. “Spencer?” she said questioningly. “Come on, let’s go in.” “No.” I said flatly. “No?” she said, surprised. Maybe it was because I never really said no to her. She’s used to getting what she wants. “No.” I repeated sternly. “We need to talk.” She laughed lightheartedly. “If this is about Ashley, don’t worry, I won’t let her get even-” “It’s NOT ABOUT Ashley, Lisa. It’s about us.” I said icily. “Why are we at your house?” “I thought you’d like to come in, shouldn’t we spend a little time together, I thought we were-” “We aren’t anything, Lisa. I’m not interested in being just another one of your whores. I never said I wanted you back, either.” She looked at me, wide-eyed in shock. “I’m sick of all your cheating, all your lies, and your treating me like shit! You so don’t care about how I feel! I’ve had enough; I’ve had enough of you treating me like I’m your whore and acting like I’m not good enough to be with you, like it’s a blessing to be with you or something. But you know what, Lisa? You’re not good enough for me.”
This of course, brought out all the ugliness lurking beneath her skin. She’s the most superficial, self-centered, pompous jerk I know. “You know what, Spencer!? You aren’t going to get another chance with me. You’re making a mistake. It’s not my fault we drifted apart a little; you weren’t always there!” I snorted. “Oh, so now it’s my fault. If I remember clearly, I never made you cheat on me with anyone else. You were the one who suddenly ditched me to run off with all your little whores. Whatever, Lisa. Doesn’t matter anymore. We’re over. We were over a long time ago, but apparently you can’t get that into your head.” I was instantly treated to a backhand after I said that. A bitter laugh came out of my mouth as I winced a little in pain. “See, Lisa? You never could stand it when things didn’t go your way, and you still can’t handle it now. It was always alright for you to trash me, but when I tell you what a shitty person you really are, it’s not ok.” I said, glaring at her defiantly. “Bitch!” she roared, giving me another good smack on the face. This one was much worse than the other. “I’m not fucking playing with you, Spencer, I will be the only thing good you ever had in your life.” She spat angrily. I laughed. “You mean you’ll be the only one big mistake of my life.” I corrected. I found myself instantly thrown out of the car roughly, bruising my ribs and arms. She drove on in a rage, leaving to smile bitterly in the dust.
