…Good Enough For Me? – (Chapter: Love is Overrated)

    Ch. 2

Spencer’s POV: In English, Ashley sat down next to me in the back and leaned close to me to talk as if we were already close friends. Apparently she was somewhat of a bad ass, getting kicked out of numerous schools for different reasons. But she seemed really nice, though. Maybe she just had a talent for stirring up trouble? All the same though, I don’t want any trouble in my life. I have enough of that from Lisa. I got the feeling she was hitting on me, though. Both of them were, actually. But right now I’m talking about Ashley. She would lean in really close to me, sometimes brushing her hand against mine. I felt a tingly sensation from my head to my toes every time she ‘accidentally’ touched me, though. “So…you free after school?” she asked coyly, grinning at me. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Great, now both of them wanted to do something with me after school. “I don’t know exactly…” I said, thinking about how Lisa was probably going to have me be with her this afternoon. Ashley frowned slightly in disappointment. “I’ll tell you if I am, though.” I said, smiling brightly at her. She perked up immediately. Seeing her happy and excited made me feel the same way she did, too.

I walked Ashley to her other classes, and she would walk close to me, brushing against me, which elicited an extremely annoyed glares from Lisa the entire day. Lunch wasn’t so good; and I’m not talking about what I ate. Ashley insisted on pulling out my chair for me like she was some chivalrous knight or something when we sat down with my friends. Chelsea gave me a knowing grin, telling me she knew that Ashley was into me. Finally I asked Ashley, “Did you leave a girl back from your old school?” There was a slight pause before Ashley took her fork out of her mouth and smiled at me. “Nah. I wasn’t really into relationships. I used to be the ‘wham, bam, and thank you ma’am’ type.” “And now you aren’t?” I inquired, raising an eyebrow. I really didn’t want two womanizers in my life, gosh. “I kind of am finding myself growing out of that now, so yeah.” She replied, wolfing down some mac n’ cheese. “And why is that?” I said sweetly, letting my fingers brush against hers for the slightest instant. She looked at me wide-eyed, in surprise before opening her mouth to say something. Suddenly Lisa popped up out of nowhere. “Stay away from Spencer, jerk.” She sneered towards Ashley. “Lisa, stop…she wasn’t doing anything- ” “Why are you defending her, Spencer? Do you like her or something?” “I didn’t say I liked her or anything. Can you please calm down?” I sighed, putting my hand on top of hers to try to get her to stop harassing Ashley.
