    Somehow they had managed to break the barriers that I had kept up.

    I briefly consider taking that route but what good would that do? I had been feeding Johnson information since the first day. He had enough information to lock Arthur up for years. And Glen, well he would probably end up serving ten to fifteen for the things I had on him.

     

     

    There’s still hope for Spencer

     

     

    That was true. I still haven’t completely solved the mystery that is Spencer. Yes, there were a few charges they could hold her for, but with cooperation she probably wouldn’t have to serve anytime.

     

     

    That didn’t matter though, as soon as she found out what my intentions had been she wouldn’t want to have anything to do with me. There was no hope for saving any of them. If I did pull out someone else would be put on the case, someone who would have no mercy, unlike myself.

     

     

    No matter what I tried to do things wouldn’t change, the events that would take down the Carlin family were already set in stone. They had accepted me into the circle, I was about to witness a drug transaction first hand. They were done, there was no hope for them especially since Johnson had already given me my orders.

     

     

    "They want you to be there when they make a deal?" I picture Johnson smiling in my head. "Jesus that is just the icing on the cake."

     

     

    We exchange a few unimportant words before things get serious again. "Do you know whose going to be there when the deal goes down?"

     

     

    "Just Spencer and I." There is a brief pause before he continues to speak. "Well we’ve got to catch Arthur in the act so when the deal goes down keep your cover. Eventually Arthur is going to have to be there when a deal goes down, we’ll come in then."

     

     

    We talk for a few more minutes tying up loose ends.

     

     

    "Call me when you have anymore information."

     

     

    "Ok." I hang up the disposable phone and place it under my mattress.

     

     

     

     

    I stop my thoughts as I hear footsteps once again. My finger taps the mute button on the televisions remote, returning the sound. After a few more moments I hear footsteps on the stairs and I feel arms wrap around my neck. A kiss is placed on my temple, words whispered in my ear. "We should go, we don’t wanna be late." I nod my head and stand up. After I place my shoes back on my feet Spencer steps in front of me and grabs my hand.

     

     

    "Don’t worry, it’s going to be very easy. We just bring them the stuff, they give us the money, and everyone goes happy. You don’t even have to say anything. It’s just a formal thing to have two people do these kinds of deals." I nod my head and she smiles.

     

     

    It’s too late, there’s no hope for her.

    1. i love this story. it’s so suspenseful .. i always look forward to the next update because you keep me on my toes .. i feel so bad for the carlins .. i mean sureee they’re drug dealers but to be stabbed in the back by ashley … that’s just terrible .. and poor poor spencer … ashley convince your girl to go become a teacher in bali or something .. anywhere far far away

    2. Yes Ashley, there is hope for Spencer. This story just kills me because I don’t see how everything can end up okay. The only thing I can figure is that Ashley has to redeem herself to Spencer somehow so they can end up together. They are going to end up together, right? I hope so.
