    Author Notes:

    It’s too late, there’s no hope for her.

     

     

    Her head shakes in the negative, her mouth opens and words slip out. "N– no it’s fine I’m going to do it." I nod my head, a worried look still plastered on my face. Again she takes her eyes off of the road to look at me.

     

     

    Instantly recognizing my worried stare she give me a smile and reassuring words. "It’ll be fine really." She smiles and a chuckle escapes my throat. "I should be saying that to you." She shrugs her shoulders and focuses on pulling into my oversized driveway.

    I shrug my shoulders at her words, giving complete focus to pulling into her driveway. I park a few feet in front of the front door. We grab our things and step out of the vehicle, making our way to the front door.

     

     

    When the two of us enter we take the short walk down the hall and to the stairs leading to the basement. The second we reach the dark room I plop down on the large couch, kicking off my shoes as Spencer turns on the TV. and throws me the remote.

     

     

    I watch her as her mouth begins to move, her words go in one ear and out the other I’m far too distracted to listen to anyone speak. I do catch a few of her words; something about her mother and talking. My mind draws it’s own conclusions as my head as if on automatic shakes in understanding.

     

     

    I watch her hips sway as she walks back up the flight of stairs we had just entered from. When I hear her footsteps fade I grab the remote and push the red mute button. My leg begins to shake with nerves as I think about the events that must occur.

     

     

    Eventually I would be the one to set in motion her father’s arrest, possibly heir’s. When I had first taken the job I had known what I would have to do but now things had changed. I had grown close to her as well as her family. I realized that not everything is so black and white.

     

     

    Yes I had a job to do, but when it came down to it could I really betray Spencer and her family had taken me in with open arms and they had trusted me with their secrets. Doing my job would be more difficult than in the past.

    1. i love this story. it’s so suspenseful .. i always look forward to the next update because you keep me on my toes .. i feel so bad for the carlins .. i mean sureee they’re drug dealers but to be stabbed in the back by ashley … that’s just terrible .. and poor poor spencer … ashley convince your girl to go become a teacher in bali or something .. anywhere far far away

    2. Yes Ashley, there is hope for Spencer. This story just kills me because I don’t see how everything can end up okay. The only thing I can figure is that Ashley has to redeem herself to Spencer somehow so they can end up together. They are going to end up together, right? I hope so.
