Falling down means you have to crawl back up – (Chapter: skipping school and thinking of you)

“So where to my lady?” Kyla asked taking her eyes of the road for one second to look at Spencer who was staring off out the window.

“Anyway but here.” Her tone was defeated and it broke Kyla’s heart she had watched Spencer fall apart and then pick herself up piece by piece and all she wanted to do was protect the fragile girl. “Somewhere cool, it’s boiling today.” She added opening the window a little bit more to let some air in.

“Alright impromptu trip to the cinema it is. Plus who goes to the movies at half nine in the morning anyway.” It was the second idea that had floated into her head, the first had been the beach; however she recalled Spencer telling her that the beach had been Spencer’s and Ashley’s run away.

“Really?” Spencer finally looked towards her companion and frowned.

“Yes, a bad film, loads of soda and candy, let’s just get lost in a film for a little while and forget everything else.” The blonde found herself staring at the brunette unable to pinpoint why she was gazing so intensely. Kyla had been the last person she would have expected to lean on, but she had done it without question or complaining. The passenger thought back to Clay’s funeral , her heart had been breaking and she’d had to listen to people telling her how sorry they were or asking her how she was. She didn’t want their pity or awkward conversation she wanted her brother back; Spencer wanted to her him freaking out about a maths test or gushing about him and Chelsea, instead it had all slipped away in a second. Everyone had stood around the grave wearing black with their head’s held low no one noticing Spencer holding on by a thread. She had looked to Ashley who had attended but stood dutifully beside Aiden and refused to catch her eye. The support had come from a hand slipping into hers and squeezing it lightly. Turning it was Kyla who stood beside her, they didn’t say a word to each other just held hands. The brunette was a believer that sometimes the silence between two people could be more comforting that a thousand words.

    1. yeah i agree. kyla was there for spencer through her rough times. and ashley is just like so careless. like how can she just hurt spencer like that?

    2. Spencer often lay awake at night wondering, if she would ever recover from her broken heart, she didn’t know if she could love someone with every piece of her shattered heart. She knew she was only young but some scars lasted a life time, some never disappear no matter much you try to cover them or pretend they aren’t there, they are rooted into the organ that gives you life and there is no escaping that. Oh…I lost it when I read that paragraph…my heart literally broke for Spencer and even now the tears still flow. You are an amazing writer and I can’t wait to read your next post. thank you…
