Everything Changes After Spending 7 Months Apart – (Chapter: You change your mind like a girl changes clothes!)

As the knife dug into my skin, I could feel it vibrating through my entire body…

Or maybe that was my phone, lying next to me on my bed ringing. I woke up shaking and cold. It was Ashley calling. I decided to only tell her a piece of my dream. There was no point in telling her the rest of it. It would only cause a weird moment to happen.

The rest of my day was a blur. Aiden was flirting with me all day nonstop. I couldn’t believe it. Who does this guy think he is? He thinks it is okay to treat Ashley like this and it isn’t! I have half the mind to invite him over to my house just so that I can beat the living shit out of him. I want nothing more than to cut off his male appendage and shove it down his throat.

You know you can’t do that.

I don’t see why not, he is a filthy bastard!

You know why you can’t. For some unknown, godforsaken reason, Ashley is still okay with him. If you were to do that, she wouldn’t exactly be too happy about it.

Damn it all to hell. Why is it that she has to be into a guy that is this much of a sleazy prick? I want to help protect her from this. I want to help her see that this will end in her being hurt. I hate that one day she will be crying over this guy. He isn’t worth her tears. He isn’t worth the heart that is going to break over him.

You can’t protect her, Spencer. That’s not your job. Your job is to pick up the pieces. You can’t save her from everything.

She has always been my Batman and I have always been her Robin. All I want to do is wrap her up in my super-cape and protect her from the world. But I suppose the voice is right. I can’t do that. I’ve got to let her make her own mistakes. But I can only do what a sidekick can do: help after the job gets too hard to handle alone.

The night drew long and stressful as I talked on the phone with Ashley. It was thundering outside my window and the rain was pouring down. It was the perfect weather to symbolize my stressful state of mind. The entire time on the phone call was going on – all I could think of was the concept of time.

    1. I truly feel like I understand a bit about everything that’s going on in here, from my own personal experience. the changing definition of what you two are and what goes on between you; stepping aside to let the other make mistakes on their own but being there to help out when it becomes overwhelming; not wanting to lie especially about something so big, and especially because you want to regain the trust that someone once had in you; feeling frustrated that your advice is never really listened to; right down to the sleeping while the sun is out, although I’m trying really hard to kick that habit. I think a lot of it is because I went through something a tiny bit similar with my ex best friend. not nearly as involved as this situation, but I definitely get it. and being that this is all true to life, I’m a bit worried about the “aiden” situation, so I just will say be careful! as always you know I wish you luck with this situation, and I hope the weekend goes well for you!

    2. just saw this was up, as I’m heading to bed, so I wanted to let you know I’ll be reviewing tomorrow! well, later today I guess. just a heads up for ya. ‘night for now.
