Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 6: Sometimes I Don’t Understand You.)

“Where am I supposed to go?”

“I don’t know. Why don’t you go stay with that blonde girl? The one with the male name?”

“Spencer?” Obviously she didn’t hear me, because she started rubbing her chin and looking upward in thought.

“Fence? Fencer?” Fencer…Nice…Apparently my girlfriend is a swordsman? Okay, yeah, that’s hot, but seriously.

“Spencer, Mom.” I say, again, a little louder.

“Oh, yes. Her. Why don’t you go stay with her?” Okay, obviously, I have no problem with that. It’s just the fact that I keep getting kicked out of my own home, well…house, that bugs me.

“Fine,” I sigh, “I’ll get out of your hair.” I look over at the clock. One in the afternoon. Wow, I must have been tired, if I slept that long. That gives me four hours. I can probably leave sooner than that.

"Good." she says with a stern tone, as she turns to exit my room. Love you, too, Mom. Jeez.

I stand from my bed and raise my arms over my head for a good stretch. Might as well get ready. I throw the duffle on the ground and walk over to my closet to grab a few things. That is until I hear a scream come from the hall way.

What has that woman done, now?

I run out into the hallway and skid to a stop. "What’s wrong?"

"What is this thing?!" she asks as she holds up Rob by the neck. She’s doing the thing where she’s just hanging with her tail between her legs and seeing her pathetic like that really makes me uneasy.

"Don’t hold her like that!" I yell as I grab her from my mother’s grasp and cradle her.

"Why is it in my house?! Get it out!"

"Relax, Mom, it’s just a cat. I found her at the park and took her home." I’m rubbing Rob’s neck where she was held by. I don’t know if it hurts the cat or not, but it still bothers me for some reason.

    "What if it’s diseased!"

"Relax. I already took her to the vet and got her checked out. She’s harmless."

"But it’s filthy! I don’t want it in here!" All this fuss over a cat? I’ll admit that I didn’t like it, at first, but the damn thing grew on me.
